i'm not sure if Oprah's Book Club is a very good thing or not. I have not thought about it very objectively yet, and I have not done enough research to even support an opinion on the the subject. but here is what i was just thinking: Oprah's Book Club recognizes the literary catastrophes like "A Million Little Pieces" long before her club will ( Read more... )

i have to disagree...Oprah did, at first, commend Frey on such a compelling memior, but as soon as she found out even the smallest facts had been changed...she apologized on national television. she felt herself and her viewers had been deceived.
Oprah's book club not only chooses already known authors, but new ones as well. she gives struggling authors that have written wonderful books a push to help them get going.
i do, however, understand your conflict with her seal. it does kinda seem like a "stamp of approval." but i don't think you should really care if something thinks you are an avid oprah reader or not.
i say YES to Oprah's Book Club.
