Ha! I approve of your no nonsense Alice who knows what she wants.

(NB: small typo here: "Alice in Longbottom form". Much as I like the idea of a Longbottom form :).)

I think I have to clean up my wording. Robbards is in Longbottom form after taking the polyjuice potion and walks up to Alice. In other words he had polyjuiced himself to look like Frank and is walking up to Alice, who isn't married to Frank yet.

Sorry - clearly I wasn't thinking properly when I pointed that out! Your wording is fine; I understood perfectly what was going on, just managed to confuse myself when I noticed that sentence in isolation afterwards.

Actually I saw it as a typo everytime I proof read the paragraph.

I'm glad you liked my no nonsense Alice; I picture her as a tough gal.

I'm intrigued... how did Alice know it wasn't Frank?

Lovely little tidbit! :D

Alice had been watching Frank for a long time. Robards didn't walk like Frank, move like Frank or have a likely expression for Frank given their last meeting. Alice knows Polyjuice exists, so when Frank doesn't look or act like Frank she is sure something is wrong.

There's another reason I fear to mention. In my universe Alice as an Auror was particularly skilled at Legilimency. I have thought that wizards who excelled at that art had a basic talent for it, and perhaps sometimes without realizing it were able to do a primitive version of it. At this stage of her life Alice doesn't differentiate being good at reading people from having a certain skill at interpreting their thoughts. She knows the person in front of her is lying.

By the way I'm glad you liked this.

week later, and I'm finally getting back to you!

That is an awesome personal canon you've got there. It makes a lot of sense... I really have a thing for what magic is and what it does in the Potter universe. Most people just make up any old spell and add a name. I like to think of the history/theory of it. In my personal canon, magic all began as primitive/instinctual reactions, then developed into causing things to occur solely by intent. The names and wand movements all came much later. So the concept of strong intuition being an aptitude for Legilimency thrills me!

Would you mind if I incorporated the Legilimency!Alice into my own fics?

Sure do what you like with the idea. I figure the Aurors test for that sort of thing and seeing that Alice had an aptitude accepted her in the program specificly to be trained in Legilimemency and to do work in interrogation and survelance.

It's great to hear from someone who appreciates Alice as an auror.
