I could have sworn there was a quote that said the Lestranges had tortured the Longbottoms because they believed they had some information about Voldemort's whereabouts. Unfortunately, I don't have time to go looking for the quote ( ... )

Hm, I believe callie_girl is right. There is a quote somewhere- fourth book?- that says something along the lines of the Lestranges believing the Longbottoms had information pertaining to Voldemort. Though, to be honest I'd never really given it much more thought than that. XD Thinking about it, it seems the most obvious explanation would be that the Longbottoms came out of hiding after Voldemort's defeat, believing themselves to be safe. I think you're right oddsbobs, someone was making connections and concluded that the Longbottoms had to know something about VD's downfall ( ... )
