Some unscientific employment research

This was a piece that was going to be in my zine, but didn't end up there.  I keep hearing "how bad it is" and how many people are unemployed, so wanted to do an unscientific "experiment" to see whether, at least among people I know, this is really the case.  So I decided to go on Facebook and note the employment status of all my friends.  ( Read more... )

Out of curiosity, which category was I in? Also, is the cat in question Pantouffe?

Now that I think about it, I don't remember. It seems like you might be underemployed, but what do you think? The cat is Pantouffe :-)

I consider myself under-employed. Today I was doing an adoption for a couple who were getting a cat and I heard them speaking Chinese, so I did the adoption in Chinese! The word for that is: swish. How many $9.25/hour workers can pull off something that cool? It was totally unnecessary, of course, their English was excellent, but it made me feel good about myself.

I didn't want to sound like I was judging other people...just collecting information. But yeah, sometimes you have to make things interesting for yourself. Swish swish!
