Well, I don't know when the Sakuno alternate pairing "trend" began, but I do know that I, personally, grew tired of Ryoma/Sakuno and Sakuno being paired up with Shusuke or Tezuka, or any Seigaku member. I'm more fond of pairing her up with Sengoku (love this guy to bits), Atobe, or nearly any member of Rikkai (usually Sanada, since I prefer Ann with Kirihara!). With the lack of female characters and there being plenty of boys available, it's just fun for me (though I also focus on character introspectives or multi-chapter stories without romance) and challenging to make a certain pairing work out somehow. =)
I love RyoSaku to bits but sometimes I grow a bit tired of them. That's why I love crack pairings between Sakuno and ..whoever. I was influenced by japanese crack pairing fanarts online. I think Sakuno is more adaptable to be paired with (almost) anyone. I can picture her paired up with most of the male characters. Plus, I think it's fun and different. But if there's a love triangle involving Ryoma, Sakuno and another boy, I'll definitely choose RyoSaku and leave the other boy out.. ^_^;
I, too was inspired by the fanarts online! ^-^...is way too fun watch her with other boys! she is very cute!!! I specially find very interesting pair her with atobe (I love hiiim to death) sengoku, tezuka, kintarou, oshitari, ohtori, sanada, yukimura, kirihara and specially Fuji.
being FujiSaku, the one I get more interested, is something canon between them in the series? or is just fun to see Ryoma jealous and the propers character for doing that is fuji?
for me, I not such a big fan of Atobe and Sakuno. Boo. I like Atobe with the other girls. ^^ Kintarou and Sakuno.. woohoo! One of my guilty pleasures is Sakuno and ... tada.. Kachirou! I think they are so cute. ^^ a bit boring to some though.
Fuji and Sakuno canon? Nope. It's fun seeing Ryoma jealous though. Not just to Sakuno and Fuji.. Sakuno and anyone.
Why? Because Sakuno is so adorable that everybody should love her, of course!
Seriously, though, I think Sakuno is a nice enough girl that pretty much everyone would be able to have, at least, a 'civil' interaction with her if the opportunity/need ever arose. And I love Sakuno a lot, so seeing her paired up with anyone makes me happy. (Oh, and all those fanfics of course. Such bad influence, those fanfics.)
I'm pretty much a SeigakuxSakuno fan (with emphasis on FujiSaku, heehee) because that's crack-y enough to make me happy, but she's close enough to them (kind of-I mean, she does hang around them quite often) that I can think up scenarios that don't always border on insane.
(Yay, you're fujisaku too! ^^ Won't you tell us your reason?)
Oh well... my excuse for the crackpairing on sakuno, is the same as yours.
she is my fav female character in the hole serie and manga, next are ann and rinko. she is so adorable and her personality suits every boy in PoT ^_^. She can suit the egomaniac! she can stand the flirtyness of a certain yamabuki guy, she is innocent for the pervy ones, she is sweet and SERvcial to everyone, she looks cute when she pouts or gets mad...and she doesn't even knows when she is part of a jealously attack on ryoma XD!
I love her for many reasons...one of them is because ahe has a kilometric long hair *___* yeah I know quite stupid....
I love crack pairngs! and I love RyoSaku!
I love sakuno! I would like that konomi give her more presence in the manga...she is quite a mature and calm girl in the manga...
and for that...because she is very calm and self gattered...she'll makes good couples with all mah boys!
especially fuji, atobe, tezuka, kintarou, kirihara and sengoku!
