Kelly, I'm going to suggest something I don't usually suggest for anybody.... fuck 'em. Why? Because, you're not just anybody; you are possibly the most giving and accepting person I have ever met. Unfortunately, you run the risk of overextending yourself to those who would take advantage of your courageous kindness, so much that you'll end up ripped to shreds before an apathetic insatiable crowd. So to those who cannot accept your wondrous nature or give you a little more slack, love, and understanding.... fuck 'em. Of course, I would never ask you to faithfully take such an immature/uncaring stance. What I really mean is fuck their egos. It's not your job to nurse them. It is unlikely that I would ever encourage you to stop being an openly loving person. But, loving people doesn't have to mean eating the shit they feed you. It's not your job to take care of their self- esteem, but to let them know that they are already a great person, but only as they choose to be. So brush off their rage, and their pouting, and their guilt trips.
