So what I'm gathering from this vague post is that there are lots of wild animals in Nashville.

Not necessarily Nashville, just passing through redneck central on the way- which also happened to be where Davy Crockett was born. And Davy Crockett was best known in Tennessee as a noted hunter, of course- hence the wildlife.
