Character Name [Canonly Written]: Flonne
Series: Disgaea
Gender: Female
The Item: Her red bunny hair bow thing, I guess. |Da
Point with which your character has been taken from canon: Sometime post game, pre-the huge list of cameos, lol. Oh and from the good ending, so she's a fallen angel now.
Personality
Flonne can seem, well, kinda angel-like. At first glance anyways. She's kind, gentle, considerate, up-beat and sweet -- usually, anyways. Constantly hanging around Etna and Laharl all the time, living in the Netherworld and becoming a fallen angel have all definitely had an influence on her. Despite that, she's still almost painfully polite, even when angered. She is also extremely innocent and naive, to the point that she does at times come across like a total ditz, however Flonne is not stupid. While sometimes it seems she has flowers for brains, there's a lot more ticking up there than what meets the eye. She shows this many times through-out the game, such as being able to read past Laharl's fronts and her words to Vulcanus in Celestia.
Flonne's a girl who wears her emotions on her sleeves. Happy, sad, depressed... it's always easily readable, no matter how hard she might try to hide them. Lying in general is something she rather fails at. She also has a great deal of empathy for others feelings, being able to cry not only over her own problems, but for others as well. She's the sort of person who would even cry for her enemies, if given reason to.
She isn't always happy, of course. While she tries to be patient and understanding, she can lose her temper. Stubbornness is another often seen trait, especially when it comes to matters of the heart, as she takes it very seriously. But with that stubbornness is also great passion. Whatever it may be, she always will strive to do her best.
She is extremely loyal to those she cares about, especially her two friends who she'd follow almost anywhere, even if she doesn't always agree with their ways. Without hesitation she would step up to defend them, even at a her risk to her own well being. While love and peace is her ideal world, she has come to understand that violence can be necessary, especially for demons. of course, depending on the situation, she'd still rather see problems be talked out as opposed to fighting. When Laharl and Etna argue, it's usually her in the middle trying to keep the peace.
And then there is love! AH LOVE~ She believes wholly in the power of love - that love conquers all and that everyone has love in their hearts! (Even Laharl!) She sees love in all things. ...almost literally. If she can apply love to a situation, she won't hesitate to bring it up. However, she really does seem to have some actual understanding of the emotion and can spout out some very meaningful thoughts about it. Her great passion for love has earned her the nickname "Love Freak" from a certain Overlord, which really doesn't seem to bother her.
While love is her main obsession, Flonne rather a bit of an otaku... okay maybe more than a bit. She loves ninjas and sentai teams like the prism rangers, and heroes in general, and of course, she loves shoujo too! Giant robots and spaceships are also high on her awesome things list. She's also a total klutz, can't cook to save her life and her singing? Well, let's just say Laharl called one of her songs a "Killing Song". Juuuust don't let her near a mic. Seriously.
Powers/Abilities CANON: Flonne is a magic user, particularly of the healing and support variety. Various levels of powered healing spells, barriers, status remover (like Esuna) etc. Her own personal healing spell uses the POWER OF LOVE to heal those who are injured. However she also does have a pair of special attacks all her own, notably 'Holy Arrows' which rains a lot of heart shaped glowing 'arrows' at the enemy and Flonnezilla (which replaced Holy Ray), which er... is a fire attack of sorts. She's also proficient with staffs and bows (...and technically guns too, but...)
Powers/Abilities AU:
I'll get more specific here since we're dealing with healing magic. I'm kinda estimating here best I can to figure out levels. Obviously I can totally adjust this if I'm still being too generous. ^.^b
With the power drain obviously her use of magic will mucho limited. The highest tier (there's four) healing spell will be just unreachable due to the drain. The other three are... Ah... here I'll write what the world book says...
Heal - A gentle spell that heals minor injuries. It's effective for scratches, cuts, bruises and sprains.
Mega Heal - With this, you can take care of injuries that can't be fully cured with Heal, but it has no effect on disease or illness.
Giga Heal - As long as you're not dead, you can almost recover your full strength with this spell! It's so wonderful to be alive.
Giga Heal note from Mods:
Also, after discussing it, we feel that Giga Heal is a power that the Gate would quickly NOM NOM on. If Flonne attempted to use that power, it would not be successful. At most, it would work up to 40% capacity and the person it was being used on would still require immediate medical attention to avoid death. Flonne would still be stuck in a comatose state for a few days after attempting to use that spell.
Heal she could prolly cast a dozen or so odd times before needing to rest. (Normally she has the power to cast a spell like this several hundred times over. lol) Mega Heal would be couple times, oh sleep time now. And Giga I'd put at the omg emergency super drama-tiemz one spell and it's pass out time now.
The Power of Love is her own special healing ability (that I'd say sits somewhere between heal and mega heal in terms of strength), but unlike the other spells that she can cast on someone across the field, this is one that pretty well requires them to be right beside her. But it's useful because it being her own innate healing ability, she has a far easier time using it and it's drain would be more along the lines of the heal spell.
And while her healing abilities can mend some pretty bad damage, it cannot replace limbs or de-mangle them or something like that.
She also has a few support spells like barriers spells to stop an attack and Espoir, which is an 'abnormal status' condition. Like poison or sleep drugs. (The world book also notes Espoir can't bring zombies or ghouls back to life. Lolol) They're fairly simple spells that aren't much more draining than heal.
Once using her magic she'll most definitely have to have a break to let her mana replenish. In fact, that's pretty much a must, since for demons in NIS canon having their power used up entirely = DEATH. Ask Laharl's old man about that or poor Salome from Makai Kingdom (another NISA game with still ties to the Disgaea canon) who was giving her mana away for years and started coughing up blood as she slowly started killing herself from it. :Db
As for her attacks Flonnezilla... is just going to be too powerful to use. (Which is A-OKAY since I have no idea how to rp that crack-tastic move outside of crack XD) and could prolly use holy arrows a few times in a pinch, but that's about it.
Still being a not-human character, she'll be surprisingly far more resilient than most would expect, especially given she's a bit of a stick. (5'2" and 101 lbs and almost flat as a board)
Oh and Flonne's wings... uh. I've never seen her use her wings to fly like Etna does in any official material (but lots of pics of her falling...), so... I just assume she can't. lol
History:
Celestia and the Netherworld. Long had these two worlds been separated by prejudice and misunderstanding until two decided to attempt to bring the two worlds together.
Flonne was just a mere angel trainee when Seraph Lamington sent her to the Netherworld with the instructions to assassinate the king. While she was unsure it was the right thing to do, she obeyed her orders. Whoooooosh~ Nin nin nin~ She ninja'd her way into the castle and found her way to what she thought was the King's room -- except it wasn't.
She was discovered by a demon boy, who turned out was the King's son by the name of Laharl. Laharl also gave her the news that his father had passed away two years prior. Oops. Not sure what to do now, as it's rather hard to kill someone already dead and all, Flonne apologized and left. Laharl, however, wasn't about to let an assassin get away so easy and chased her down. At this point Flonne decided to take up a new mission! She would follow Laharl around and try to find out if demons were actually as evil as they were said to be or if they really did have love.
And that's just what she did, following Laharl as he took on various contenders for the throne! (Including a demon who would be an annoyance for much of the rest of their adventures, Vyers Mid-Boss)
However, her plan did have some snags, like when she woke up with her pendant missing! Unbenownst to her, Flonne had been stalked followed from Celestia (aka Heaven) by the Arch Angel, Vulcanus. Having some crazy idea she was going to use demons to take control of Celestia, he steals her pendant. That is a problem. An angel trainee doesn't have the power to survive in the Netherworld long without it. Thus she manages to convince Laharl to help her find it for 'something good'. The pendant is found, burning Laharl in the process. Something good? Well, that was the good feeling in his heart for helping her. <3
Finally Laharl claimed the throne, but just as he was finally settling into ruling the Netherworld, humans arrived from Earth. The Defender of Earth, Gordon, and his companions had come to the Netherworld to defend earth against a demon invasion that, in fact, didn't exist. Gordon wase no match for Laharl however, and he soon found himself stuck as another of the Overlord's vassals.
This, however, was only the start. More humans came and a fleet two million ships (which Laharl destroyed), all in an attempt to invade the Netherworld, because the humans had screwed their own world up. However, there was a deeper plot behind the human's invasion. Angels were involved.
Distressed by this, Flonne decided she had to return to Celestia and speak to Seraph Lamington to find out what was going on. Laharl announced he was going with her, (with claims of just be going to size-up the Seraph) and like-wise Etna and the Defenders of Earth also followed.
Arriving in Celestia, they found their entry being opposed. With little choice, they fight their way in. Finally, they were confronted by the mastermind, Vulcanus! Vulcanus' plot was to take over, not just the Netherworld, but the whole universe! Defeating him, he escapes, and they make their way to the Seraph.
Vulcanus tries to convince Lamington that the group was an invasion force, but Lamington has none of it, and he's punished. Enjoy life as a flower, Vulcanus.
The Seraph then turned his attention to Flonne, for her own sins, attacking other angels, could not be overlooked. Flonne knew what the consequences would be for her actions and accepted them without question. Giving Laharl her pendant (which she was happy to see did not burn him no longer!) she said farewell to her confused friends the Seraph transformed her too into a flower.
The next thing Flonne knew she was standing once more before her friends, no longer a flower, she had been transformed into a fallen angel which would be her punishment. (Later she might've learned from Etna or someone how Laharl attacked the Seraph, but stopped. Then was going to give up his life for her and all that. Least in theory someone might've told her... Laharl sure didn't. |D)
It turned out Vyers (aka Mid-Boss) had been working with the Seraph to bring the two together he explains, and that Flonne was really sent to meet Laharl to begin to reforge the gap that had formed between angels and demons. They're told that they are the knot that will bind Celestia and the Netherworld together. ...Not that either understood, but apparently one day they would.
Thus as Fallen Angels can't live in Celestia, Flonne very happily returned to the Netherworld with Etna and Laharl. And they lived happily ever after... or well, until they started cameoing in other games anyways, but that is unimportant since I'm just going to take her from post D1. It's less confusing that way, these days. Dammit NIS...
RP Sample [First Person]:
Hello everyone! I'm the fallen angel of love, Flonne! I'm very pleased to meet you all!
Hm? What's that? Why am I a fallen angel? Well, you see, it's a bit of a long story, but basically me and my friends from the Netherworld had to go to Celestia to talk to Lamington-sama, the Seraph, because we had to ask him something important. But the Archangel, Vulcanus, didn't want us to be able to (It turned out that he wanted to take over the whole universe!) so, to be able to reach the Seraph, we had to fight against other angels. For angels to hurt each other is a terrible sin, so I was punished.
But it's alright! I don't mind being a fallen angel in the slightest! It meant I was able to live with my friends, Laharl-san and Etna-san, in the Netherworld. I'm very happy living there with them. I don't want to ever leave. At least... I didn't want to. I'm sure somehow Laharl-san and I can find a way to get home! There has to be a way, as long as we keep hope in our hearts! ♥
Why do you play this character? I played her years ago and wanted to have a shot at it again, because she's just adorable and like most N1 characters, super fun to play!
And just to note: Laharl-mun thought it would be okay to have Flonne use -san. She... uses it for EVERYONE... well but Lamington and God, of course. lol Disgaea falls into a weird grey area... it's not japan but there's more japanese references and culture in the canon than you can shake a stick at. Flonne's such a major otaku, anime watching, manga reading gal, you could put it down to even that. lol
