I don't wanna be a socialist

Everyone at my work thinks that rich people should be forced to help out poor people. As a poor person (comparatively) I am insulted by this. I make a little over a grand a month, and while this is great in sub-saharan Africa, it doesn't get you much here. But I am okay with that. I can mostly pay my bills. I sometimes wish a random rich person ( Read more... )

Totally. Our fiat currency is also very much to blame. I think that the way I said that implied that I thought those laws were all that were to blame. But our paper money is also very much to blame. Along with private banks being allowed to control interest rates and the printing of that money. I don't think that it will be fixed. I think it will all have to run its course and we will just be the people along for the ride.

I get that people should get what they earn and people shouldn't mooch off the system, but you can't blame it on Socialism. That's a pretty weak argument. "Somehow, I feel like we got stuck into this rut of having unjustified anger toward the rich people instead of getting off our asses and doing something ourselves." I can totally agree with that, but the idea of socialism is that people and communities have a right to certain things; healthcare, education and so on. But how that's done is very open to debate, just look at that France bit you noted, then look at Japan where they work obscene hours per week. I am not saying woohoo socialism or booo capitalism, and maybe I am not sure what you exactly are talking about as your post is a little vague, but I think you're blaming jealous attitudes, unfairly and loosely, on Socialism.

Yeah it is a little vague. I was just sort of ranting anyway. I'm not blaming the jealousy on socialism, I'm blaming socialism on the jealousy. I think that people in power use and manipulate those jealous feelings of poorer people to shift more power towards themselves. The basic idea of socialism, via Karl Marx is :" To each according to their need, from each according to their ability. " Meaning that people who are in need should get what they need from people who have extra. I think that this is very idealistic, but it puts the power to decide who is the provider and who is the person in need in the hands of the government. That's what I take issue with. Historically, this path has led to very few being rich and the great majority being around the poverty line. Even Europe is having difficulties keeping the standard of living up, not to mention China and the former USSR.

Anyway, I just think that the feds are a little out of hand. Spending a lot, endless war, etc. I would like to see them reined in a bit is all.

I think that the difference is that you aren't an old poor person who has spent their whole life sqandering away whatever opportunities to be successful might arise.

Also, people who feel strong and make a means to support themselves are sometimes the people who become thos rich bastards some day. So, there.

Also, if you are a rich bastard who worked hard o be a rich bastard, you should get to keep your money. All of it. And buy pretty things with it 'cause you earned it. So there!
