Annaliese has painful bruised palms on her hands and a hip that hurts too much to move. She's not walked since the day before yesterday, and spent the whole night on her back. They wheeled her through the doctor's office yesterday and through the hospital to have an Xray done.
Anyone ever hear of this?

So the possibilities we were looking at were A. Trauma (like Alice said, but she had no memory of falling or hurting herself) B. Infection in the joint, which would be supported by the bruising on the palms or C. a virus that settled itself in the joint synovial fluid.
Her SED rate and CBC levels looked great, which rules out option B. Her x ray looked great, which rules out option A. So we are going with option C by default. Her palms aren't actually bruised, but swollen and painful.
Good news is she is back to walking. It hurts when she skips, jumps, or attempts to hyperflex the joint, but normal kid movement is okay. She is looking forward to using her hands again, though.
Thanks for the suggestions and well wishes!
