I obviously don't know anything about the relationship you have with your mom, outside of what you've written in your livejournal. But you should just know that I don't know a single person who thinks of you as anything less than someone to look up to, who is inspirational, driven, accomplished, and incredibly kind. There's not one thing about you that I have ever found disappointing.

I've been thinking about similar things lately. You are right, you definitely cannot spend your life always planning for "the future". If you are always thinking that your better days are ahead of you, one day you'll wake up to realize that life has passed you by. Do what you love, and everything will fall into place.

I have been meaning to write something back to you for so long. Thank you for your kind words, they really mean a lot to me.

I think we are on the right path; let's just enjoy our lives now while we are living them. I understand that parents will probably never stop commenting on how they think we could be doing things differently. So I guess, as I grow older, I just need to reassure myself that I am the one who knows what I want to/should do the best.
