An End to a Selfish Love

Jan 28, 2010 22:03

Kakihara entered the apartment he and Reno share with their wolf, Shell, close on his heels. Over his shoulder a duffel bag is draped, full of meat from a Mad Cow. It would probably be the last food they could really hunt with the way the weather seemed to be going. Shell looked happy enough, face slathered with blood, barely wiped clean by Kakihara in a halfhearted attempt to keep her decent before coming into the apartment.

"Ooi, Ka-dinaru. I brought home enough meat to fatten your skinny ass up. I know you don't like the cold, so you weren't about to go do it, you lazy asshole."

It wasn't necessarily that he thought Reno didn't like the cold, but he DID know that when it was like this, to Reno, underneath a pile of every blanket in the apartment was the place to be. Kicking off his wet shoes, Kakihara entered the apartment and approached the kitchen, dropping the bag onto the counter with a flat splat sound that caught Shell's attention mid shake as she rid herself of the melting snow. The blonde gave a quick glance to the couch. Well, there was that telltale pile of blankets he had expected, but they were messily tossed onto the cushions, obviously without a person in them. He glanced to the bathroom door, open and with no sign of Reno. Funny how he hadn't answered him before... He would have figured the man was napping in their room if not for the blankets on the couch.

"...Reno?"

With a small huff from his nose, Kakihara entered the bedroom, ready to make fun of the redhead for whatever reason he could, or perhaps to just rudely awaken him if he WERE napping, but when he stepped through the door he stopped dead and stared. The room was empty. Maybe Reno went out someplace. He didn't see anything in the room that he usually kept on his person, but he hadn't sent him a text or called him to warn him. Also not unusual. It wasn't until Shell entered the room, sniffing at the floor as if she smelled something out of place, that Kakihara began to worry. Prydain told him that people were being deceived and kidnapped, but he knew Reno was too smart to fall for something like that. He'd heard a lot about new monsters, tearing people apart, but there was no sign of that in their apartment at least.

...But then again, Kakihara knew an awful lot about there being no sign of a bloody, gory occurrence in a place.

Having gone through the same thing with Anjo, that was probably not the best thing to rely on and immediately, Kakihara reached into his pocket for his communicator. Reno, of course, would be at the top of his contacts. His heartbeat quickened, the same way it always did when he got that bad feeling that Reno was gone. He was always wrong, and he told himself that as he scrolled through the functions and into his contacts. He was always wrong.

He was always wrong.

I'm always wrong.

I'm always WRONG.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

[A darkened image appears on the communicator. A man in the shadows, lit dimly by moonlight. The rest of the room is palely lit as well, but not much can be seen behind him, sitting on the floor. The light touches a few things here and there, showing that there are things scattered around. If it were lighter, it would be obvious that Kakihara had flipped that place upside-down. Shell is laying on the floor, asleep. There is a pitiful groaning, coming from Kakihara as he cries to himself. The moonlight catches the drying streaks on his face, but other than that, he shows no other signs of doing much of anything. He hadn't intended to turn on the camera, just the audio so he could say something. He wasn't sure what to say, however... Who would care ? Who ever listened to him, and who did Reno know?

Kakihara wipes the corner of his mouth and drops his head, readying himself to speak. Maybe in English this time... if Reno still had any friends here, they must have spoken it. Strangely, his voice doesn't match the broken man in the image. He sounds composed, and even cold and emotionless.]

...If any of you knew Reno, don't expect to hear from him anytime soon. He's gone. I was stupid to think that they wouldn't take him, too. Heh... it hurts.

[Kakihara chuckles to himself, quietly at first. It did hurt. And he loved the pain. It was the greatest pain he'd felt in a long time, and in his twisted mind - and heart - it was only appropriate that Reno gave it to him. Reno had taught him to feel again, the things that he thought were impossible for him to feel any longer. Things that people normally take for granted because it comes with the package of being a human being. Did anybody know what it was like to have those emotions and feelings taken away from them? What it was like to not feel if you wanted to... Pain fixed that for him. But Reno fixed it better. He took Kakihara's need for pain and turned it back into a passion, and less of an addiction. Less of a sharp edge to keep him aware while going through the motions in life, and more of that burning, guilty pleasure that it was before he became bored with living.

And then he starts to laugh.]

You know me too well! Ha ha ha! You Scientists, you're funny people! I wanted pain, and I got it, right?! I didn't see it coming! I DIDN'T SEE IT COMING! Those are always the best jokes, aren't they? It's always the best time to hurt someone, when they don't expect it. It's so funny! HA HA HA! You gave me a l-lover, a house a-and a dog! [He has to stop to control his hysterical laughter, and catch his breath.] And let's not forget Heidegger, shall we? You domesticated us, and made us comfortable like a nice little family. Why the hell would I ever want something like that?! Oooh yes... I get it. yes...

[...]

Reno...

{ooc: Aaaah... i guess you don't have to read the part under the cut... I just figured it was probably important to document all that. It's an important time.}
