When I see something that really moves me, I have to write about it. Wth my job at the animal shelter, I think I'll end up with a book. It's a hard job, physically. But it's the emotional drain that's really hard. In the lunch room they talk of "my first breakdown" and describe in stomach-churning detail the acrid smell of an honest to goodness

Jacob told me you got this shelter job. I did it for 8 summers in a row. Nightmares, breakdowns, fosters, the whole bit. If you want, I can add you to my friends list and you can go back and read some of my accounts from work...I didn't post every day because most nights, I didn't feel like washing off and then sitting down to relive the horrors. But here I am, after a year away from the Shelter...looking for more shelter work in Eugene. If you can take the pain, it's such an amazingly rewarding job, and yes, excellent fodder for writing.
