Wow, you sound a bit like me. I knew about Harry Potter thanks to the media and a few of my friends (who loved the books), but I didn't want to get interested in something just because it was popular.

Back when Chris (the ex) was here, we talked about Harry Potter, and Chris was surprised that I'd never read the books. He let me borrow the first one, and I couldn't put it down. After that I was hooked. I found a couple of the books at my then-school library, and I borrowed the rest from someone. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the first book of the series that I'll own.

As for the movies, I've only seen the first three. (My family rented the first two movies, and I saw the third with Chris and his parents at their house.) I'm not sure when I'll see the fourth and fifth.

I certainly can't say I know everything about the series (especially since I've read each book only once), but I've enjoyed more than I expected.

I'll most likely get Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows delivered tomorrow, thanks to Amazon. I've read ( ... )

Oh, yeah!

*points at loveknot and looks at everyone*

This here is one total HP Geekface!

Oddly enough, I was like you in high school. Hated things that were wildly popular. But even more oddly? No one in my school was reading HP (and if they were, I didn't know it). I stumbled upon HP just before it got wildly popular while strolling through my local public library (I heart that library now). I looked at the books, looked at the kid's reviews (because kids get to write reviews), and saw it as a way to kill time before I'd go home. And then... I got sucked in!!! :O I think it might've been my junior year in high school. >) Oh memories...

Checking in for my annual 'hello'. So, I have a story I absolutely can't help but share. I was in middle school when I began reading Harry Potter, and I knew of Harry Potter, but I didn't really know what it was about - nor did I have any particular interest in finding out.

That is until, out of absolutely nowhere, I had a dream that I was in a library that was filled with nothing but Harry Potter books. What brought this dream about, I couldn't possibly tell you. At the time, I'm not even sure I knew what Harry Potter was, and yet - I was dreaming about it with a perfectly lucid sensation of wonderment. In my dream, not only was the library magical - but I was magical too. Anything I wanted to happen would happen, and it was an exciting, wonderful feeling ( ... )
