I don't think there is anything wrong with being just spiritual. I may not go to church, or believe that organized religion is a good idea. I actually believe that if Jesus were alive today, he wouldn't associate himself with the Christian church. I've read the bible--and I have attended church. To me, the Bible is an alegory, especially the Old Testament. I believe in Jesus Christ, but I don't believe he won't love me back if I don't do what the church tells me to. Besides, if I did believe what the church tells me, I would be damned. So I don't go, and I have formed my own beliefs of God. And I don't try and argue with anyone about it, because I think that's a little pretentious: "I know God more than you." I don't think that's possible for God to love or give anyone else any more knowledge about him/her than the next person.
No, I agree. I find it ironic too. I pushed Adam, and Jenny, and a whole bunch of other people, and I realyl felt like I was making a positive difference. And who knows, maybe I was. There's alot about christianity that's wonderful...it's a very compassionate and peace-loving religion.
But I've looked into the gospel of Mary Magdalene without actually reading it yet, and it IS interesting. I think I might read it.
Apologetics is not something I know much about yet, but I have found some great resources. If you're still interested in looking, there are two books: The Case for Christ and More Than a Carpenter that are excellent. They look at how historical evidence can be used to back up the claims that the Bible makes, and really focus on what you're struggling with...being able to trust it after all these years. I would really hope that you can find truth in this, and if you're not tired of talking about it, I'd be more than happy to share what knowledge I've learned so far about being able to trust the Bible. Good luck with everything, and I'll see you...sometime.

WHY do you need to live within a label at all. WHy do you have to be a member in a greater ... ...something.... why can't you just BE who you are and be the very BEST at it. You seem far too eager to connect yourself to a title or labe to belong and feel exceptence. If you can not find the something to soothe you spirit within YOUSELF... what makes you think some outside source is going to hand you a revalation. Being a spiritualist is a beautiful thing so long as you are happy in it... you would not be search if you were content.

A label to me is only a way to deinfe what I do believe, and I think beliefs are very important. I do feel like I am missing a commitment to something unseen.
and are any of us ever REALLY content with everything?
From your brother, of course

You know I won't point you to re-examine a faith you aren't happy with. I won't point you to Buddhism either though. People need to be able to choose these things. If you do not believe now, don't force yourself, it won't make you happier. Don't let people tell you you're damned, and don't believe it when you do.
You don't need to really have the need to find a faith, or keep one you aren't happy with. There's something to be learned from those at "the church" though that's not necessarily that they are correct religiously. Look into things, faiths, beliefs, philosophies with a spiritual nature. I found things that made sense to me. I didn't believe it until later, then I considered myself religious. Remember, many faiths can be altered. I like Christ and some of the Christian concepts...to me Christ is a bodhisattva. My point is you can have more control over your faith, and take what you agree with as well.

Lately I've been reading into the Gospel of Mary Magdalene lately--it's rather interesting. () There are some other scriptures on this site that have not been included in the Bible. Did you know ( ... )

I'm happy. I'm too young to be content.
