I firmly believe that every human being deserves love. I believe that God has wired us to be loving creatures, or creatures with the ability to love...and to love to huge amounts that we havent even touched before.

I'm overjoyed for you, Bethany, that you're still having such strong feelings. You don't need to expect it to never end, because true love never dies. You have to stop being over-critical of yourself. This underserved love that you mention, that's the beauty of God. You see yourself as this person whom no one would want or want to care for, but look at all God has bestowed upon you. A loving husband, a nice apartment, a good job, good friends, the list goes on. God doesn't hold grudges or holds you accountable for your actions in this life. All it takes is belief and trust to earn God's grace and mercy. I've been married for almost eight years now. I've known my husband for 13 years. I look back on that day 13 years ago when he was coming up a staircase and I was going down, and he said hi to me, and he said my name. And for some stupid reason, my heart flipped over. I told myself I was way too young to have found the one I would marry, but 13 years later I still feel unbelievably blessed, lucky, undeserving, etc.

Our relationship has certainly changed, and my feelings for him have grown and changed, but it's still wonderful and surprising whenever I stop to think about it. I think that's part of the secret, by the way, stopping to think about it and be thankful.

I agree. Love goes a long long way toward making me believe we are not just biological beings.

The more poeple I see, still happy after years of marraige, the more encouraged I am. I'm glad you still stop and think about it.

It is sad though, that today, I see 8 years of marraige as an incredible feat.

I suppose marraige is one of those things to be added to a list of achievements at the end of ones life though.
