a/n: FINALLY got this out of my system! I'm satisfied with how this turned out but I haven't exactly double-checked so look out for errors. Also it's been ages since I watched a proper soccer match so excuse my lame description of the soccer game. Other than that, Enjoy~^^
a/n: just incase you don't know: sunbae = senior/upperclasmen, hoobae = junior/underclassmen

The game had ended half an hour ago, supporters of each team had went back to their homes, some feeling overjoyed while some others stuck with disappointment. The players were now sprawled on the green, moist grass, relieving exhaustion and reliving the last determining minutes that brought victory to the upperclassmen.
There were still a few matches in the preliminary rounds of the school's soccer tournament, and both teams still have a chance to break through.
"Let's play a game."
Woohyun was on the verge of falling asleep when a figure suddenly shadowed over him, blocking the bright sunlight that had previously blinded his sight and created circle-like light patterns even when his eyes shut. He cracked one eye open, squinting to adjust his eyes to the sun rays that still glare from behind the person looming over him. Having stood against the light, darkness had shaded the person's face, and Woohyun had to blink a couple of times before he could finally make out who it was.
Lee Howon. Class 1-7. One of the only four freshmen that made it to the soccer team.
Also known as the kid who has no manners to his sunbaes.
Woohyun scoffed, a smug smirk gracing his lips as he got up to lean on his elbows. "You've lost. Why would I play again?" He said while raising a hand above his eyes to protect them from the glaring sunlight.
Howon merely shrugged. "For fun. We could bet on something."
The sunbae jeered at him, but Howon didn't show any change of expression, not even the slightest bit offended. Woohyun exhaled deeply.
This kid was seriously challenging him?
Unwilling to admit that he was intrigued, Woohyun glanced at his teammates who were either already asleep on the field or drinking down their fifth water bottle. "The boys won't agree." He said, stretching his tired limbs. He glanced at the hoobae, only now noticing how he was completely drenched in sweat from both the game and the heat. Woohyun had a strong urge to throw a towel at him but he knew better.
A drop of sweat trickled down Howon's face, reminding him that he was still standing right where the burning sunlight landed. "We won't play with them." He stated, his hand pulling his sweat-soaked bangs back. "Just you and me, one and one."
The older boy laughed, amused. "I've never heard of a one and one soccer before." He replied with a hint of fascination.
Howon gave him a small smile. "There's always a first time for everything." He held out his arm, offering a hand to his sunbae. "What do you say?"
Woohyun warily eyed the younger boy before pushing himself up on his feet, ignoring the kind help and leaving Howon's hand hanging awkwardly in the air. The hoobae didn't look affronted nor upset though and he pursed his lips instead. Woohyun looked at him with a rather bored gaze and he caught how Howon's lips quirked upwards into a challenging smirk.
The older boy scoffed as he put one hand on his hips and he smiled back, evenly challenging. "Okay." He said. "Let's play." Howon's smile grew and he led them to the middle of the field. The hoobae scanned the sides of the field for a while before he spotted what he was looking for.
"Sungyeol-ah!" He shouted at his peer. "Ball!" Woohyun was doing small running in his spot, warming up before the mini match. He watched as a tall boy kicked the mud covered ball their way and it was later stopped by Howon's feet.
"So how are we doing this?" The older boy asked. He motioned for the other to kick the ball towards him. Howon complied.
"One on one, sudden death." The hoobae answered, watching Woohyun practice his dribbles a bit.
"Let's use just this half of the field. One goal post. I know we're both tired." The older boy added, his eyes not leaving the ball as he used his thighs to kick the ball upwards. Howon made a small noise of agreement. The ball flew out of Woohyun's reach and Howon caught it with his leg, using the chance to show his own soccer skills. The sunbae snickered.
"What are we betting on?" Woohyun asked as he relaxed his limbs. Howon shrugged and continued punting the ball around front and back.
"Haven't thought of it yet. Let's decide on that later. Let the winner decide what he wants the loser to do." The hoobae said before kicking the ball to the older boy, as if an invitation for a challenge. Woohyun managed to block the ball with his feet.
The sunbae yawned as he nodded. "Hmm, okay."
They managed to convince Woohyun's teammate, Dongwoo, to be the referee of their small match. Upon being told about the situation, the oldest of the three looked absolutely thrilled and he agreed without hesitation. Dongwoo placed the ball in between Howon and Woohyun while the two players warm up a bit more.
"It's a bit unfair, don't you think? A one on one game with the school's representative." Woohyun remarked rather lazily in which Howon snickered in response.
"Hearing that from the former soccer club president... Are you sure you're the disadvantageous one here?" He retorted, wearing a derisive smirk.
Woohyun chuckled. This kid really knows how to talk back. "We'll see later."
The two got ready in their position with the ball in between them, Woohyun stared at Howon a gaze full of arrogance and determination and the latter gazed back, unwavering. Dongwoo paused as he glanced at both players, secretly excited to see the fierce match between the two. "Good luck!" He put his thumb and index finger in between his lips and a loud whistle sound is emitted, marking the start of the match.
Woohyun proved that he had better reflexes as he kicked the ball first, later dribbling it around his feet as he ran to the goal. Howon was running behind him, catching up with amazing speed. Woohyun kicked the ball forward as he prepared to block Howon with his body, but when he glanced back, the hoobae wasn't there anymore. Alarmed, Woohyun whipped his head to the front and surely enough, Howon was already ahead of him as he swiftly took control of the ball. The younger boy couldn't help the small cheeky grin when he peeked at Woohyun's taken aback expression.
Annoyed, Woohyun chased Howon, speeding up once the hoobae was near the goal. Howon was pacing down and ready to make a shoot when Woohyun showed up before him, hindering his goal attempt. The hoobae dribbled the ball towards the sidelines and Woohyun followed closely, blocking with his entire body, making it hard for the younger boy to shoot. Howon did a few trick moves, but the older boy wasn't fooled, and they kept chasing each other until Howon was near the corner kick area. Howon glanced at the goalpost not far away from him before looking at the sunbae in front of him. Woohyun's gaze was intense on him and he knew the older boy wouldn't let him win that easily.
Woohyun surged forward to steal the ball while Howon was still distracted by his thoughts; their feet battle with each other as both tried to gain control of the ball. Howon tackled his sunbae lightly, causing the older boy to stumble slightly. Using the chance while he could, Howon blocked Woohyun with his arm and hurriedly kicked the ball towards the goal. The older boy watched in horror as the ball rolled passed the penalty area, but it narrowly missed the goal. Howon made a disappointed sigh but their referee at the moment let out a dramatic cry.
"Ahhh! That was so close!" Dongwoo yelled while making a tiny gap between his index finger and thumb to emphasize how near Howon was to victory. The hoobae gave him a smile.
Woohyun scowled. "You're my teammate." He remarked, lightly elbowing his peer. Dongwoo grinned sheepishly before running to get the ball back while the two players walked to their starting point. The sunbae breathed heavily as he wiped the sweat from his face with his shirt.
"Tired already?" Howon said, he was fanning himself with the collar of his jersey. He sounded genuinely wondering but Woohyun scoffed.
"No, but fuck, it’s so hot." The older boy replied. The sun was shining at its brightest and Woohyun had to squint to not lose his sight.
Dongwoo soon returned and kicked the ball towards Woohyun. "Yours." He said. "Since Howon got the ball out."
A smirk made its way to Woohyun's lips. He was going to end this now.
Dongwoo made another whistle sound and Woohyun immediately dribbled the ball while he ran, Howon following closely behind. The sunbae swiftly maneuvered the ball around his feet, if there was one thing he learned from their earlier match was that Howon was an incredibly fast runner, and he would use the chance to steal the ball while it was being passed around. From the corner of his eyes, Woohyun could see Howon ahead of him, ready to take control of the ball once Woohyun kicked it rather far. The sunbae smirked. There was no way he was going to let that happen.
Woohyun glanced up, confirming that the goal was only a few meters ahead of him. He took a glimpse at Howon, the hoobae slowing down in his steps as he watched his movements carefully. With a poised smirk, Woohyun confidently took the shoot and kicked the ball towards the goal that was still quite a distance away. He could hear Dongwoo's holler in the background as the ball rolled closer to the goal, and Woohyun could feel the victorious smile itching to appear on his face.
But it quickly fell when the ball made contact with the goalpost instead.
The black and white colored ball violently bounced back due to impact and Howon, being closer to the goal than his sunbae, ran and took over the object in a flash. He shifted his gaze to the older boy frozen in shock at the field and sent him a cheeky grin.
Game over.
Woohyun swallowed bitterly before hastily sprinting towards Howon who was only meters away from the goal, he knew by now that it might not be possible for him to score a goal so his only chance was to stall the game. The hoobae was close enough to make the shoot but he kept dribbling towards the goal to avoid mistakes. Woohyun noticed the look on the younger boy's face that got real serious and he could only guess how many seconds away he was from scoring. Gritting his teeth, Woohyun slid on the ground in attempt to tackle the hoobae, but Howon was quick to avoid him, the ball caught between his legs as he jumped and evaded the attack. With one last kick, Howon sent the ball rolling towards the net.
"GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Woohyun's heart sunk as Dongwoo's obnoxiously loud screams filled the field. He let out an annoyed sigh, watching how Howon ran around the field with a huge triumphant grin on his face in disinterest. Dongwoo (that traitor!) gave the hoobae a congratulatory hug and high five, and judging by the complete delight shown on Dongwoo's face, he could care less about the loss his own teammate. Woohyun dropped his head onto the green grass, resting his tired limbs and appeasing his erratic breathing. He lost. But honestly he could care less. It was just a stupid game anyway.
A figure loomed over him and Woohyun felt a gush of déjà vu. He reluctantly opened his eyes and he wasn't surprised to see that it was Howon, the repulsively wide grin still plastered on his face as he looked at his sunbae knowingly. The older boy grumbled and laid his arms above his head, gazing at his hoobae lazily. "You win." He said, irritation rather evident in his voice. Woohyun didn't quite like losing. "What do you want?"
Howon's grin grew. "Not much." He simply replied.
Woohyun pursed his lips. "What?"
Howon crouched down and closed the gap between their lips.
"You."
