(lost) Just This Once

Title: Just This Once
Fandom: Lost
Characters/Pairings: Sawyer/Kate
Spoilers: Up to 3x17
Prompt: "Good enough." - un_love_you
Summary: Gapfiller, picks up the day Sawyer gives Kate the mix tape.
Notes: This sat unfinished on my computer for almost a year, but Eggtown finally gave me the inspiration to just finish it already.

Kate shook her head at his words and opened her mouth to speak again, but this time Sawyer silenced her with his lips. The kiss was gruff and angry and knocked the air out of Kate entirely. The can of beer she had been holding fell to the sand and created a small, foamy moat around her feet. )

This was really nicely done. The description of the scenery and emotion was so strong. I felt I was there along for the ride, so to speak. If one good thing came of out of Eggtown it was encouraging you to finish this.

I am always afraid that I am being too over-descriptive, so I am very glad that you liked it. Thank you so much for reading!

I really enjoyed this. I've always wanted a gap filler after the mix tape scene, and this fits perfectly. And it's a nice break from all the doom and gloom coming out of Eggtown :) Well done!

Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it! I just cannot bring myself to write something out of the doom and gloom that I felt after watching Eggtown. I prefer to think in little slices of happiness that might have taken place before it all came crumbling down so nastily.

I know what you mean. I wrote out of the doom and gloom of Eggtown, but then I've already had to counteract that with a happy fic of my own. It's too depressing to dwell on Eggtown for any length of time.

Thank you so, so much! That was such a compliment and very encouraging comments for a new(ish) fanfic writer.

I am obsessed with contemplating what happens in all the missing pieces as you call them. I may attempt to write more like tis one, little slices that we've missed. One thing that I got out of Eggtown was how intimate Sawyer and Kate seemed. Even though there had been this silence between them for days, they seemed so comfortable with one another. It really made me think that there has been a lot more between the two of them than what the writers have shown us. I would like to try and figure out what that might be.

Thank you so much for reading and for your wonderful words. They really mean more than I can say!

Of course! I hope I don't disappoint! I have one filler fic that I began after watching The Brig for the first time that deals with what happens between with Locke parts with Sawyer and when Sawyer shows Sayid the tape. I was disappointed that the writers did not show the effects of what Sawyer had done, other than for him to be angrier than usual. I have been trying to finish it since August, but have been struggling with how to deal with the confrontation I want to take place between Kate and Sawyer. In The Man Behind the Curtain, Kate does not seem to have any reaction to Sawyer's sudden reappearance, which makes me think that something might have happened between the two of them.

Just a touch of sweetnes; just a touch of angst. I love how true to character this is. Perhaps you should contact the producers, as the current writers seem to be struggling with their characterization of K/S! The imagery is top rate, you really know how to set the mood.

I'm glad to hear that you have a post-Brig fic in the works, and really look forward to reading that. There are so many holes in their story, I'm glad to see them filled in here.

Wow, thank you so much! I was afraid that it might have been a little too sweet. I just cannot seem to help myself when it comes to Sawyer. You never seem to know with him, whether he is on the verge of doing something sentimental (like the mixtape) or insensitive. I had to lean toward sensitive. Just this once.

I did finish up my post-Brig fic here. It is more of a filler like this one, but I think I might eventually try and tackle Sawyer coming clean to Kate about what happened, since it does not look like the writers will be giving that to us any time soon.

Thanks for reading!
