I'm sure you're right but I'm such a stay-at-home type that it's a real upheaval.

Uni is not scary. Not once you're past the first couple of days anyway. You'll be fine.

Words of wisdom: On arrival, locate your nearest toaster. The rest will sort itself out.

While I have you, dear soul: plugs in the Canaries = same as plugs on the continent yes/no?

[SORRY AL.]

I will also add to the toaster comment by being like "buy lots of ketchup to compensate for dining hall food" but that may be specifically American-centric advice.

Yes, continent adapter required. Enjoy the hols/camels/volcanos!

Al, dining hall usually useless, avoid like the plague. Cupboard full of pot noodle got me through the first term, till I learned how to operate kitchen equipement beyond the kettle and toaster.

Toaster advice noted, but the rest doesn't quite apply. Decided to jump in at the deep end and go for self-catering accomidation.

Which means meals cooked by my own fair hand ...

Yay.

I plan to make mega-batches of soup and flapjack and live off of those forever.
