Also look forward to seeing whether or not Freya holds her accent, since this is the first time I'll go into a series knowing where any of the actors comes from. Gonna need time to work out what I think of Dakota too though, she's the only one who might seem a bit out of place.

And I agree with you, they're not gen 1 or 2, and we shouldn't expect them to be. They've got to be their own gen, and that's a good thing. We've watched 1 and we've watched 2, and they both had good/bad/great things about them, as will this lot I'm sure. In two years time I'm sure there will be plenty of people gutted they've gone.
This is too true - I just realised, when talking to an (avowedly anti-Skins) friend today, how polarising this show is. And not even in terms of whether you like the overall concept of it, but the fact that the good bits are AMAZING and the rest is CRINGE-WORTHY.
Compare that to, say, Ugly Betty (said friend's choice of lite-entertainment), where you either generally kinda-like it or kinda-don't. I can't imagine it producing many strong reactions meself, so hopefully most of the whiners will get over it soon.
Also, I've read more and more people hoping that they don't get too styled and are left pretty much as is, as like this they're probably the most normal looking group so far, yes?

It was just like this when they announced Matt Smith as the new Doctor. So much bullshit and wank on the strength of, what, the fact that he's a bit young and has floppy hair. LOL Very mature :D
The Cambridge Folk Festival sounds fab. I've wanted to go for a while. One day, I'll actually get my arse in gear and get tickets :).

Taking the Dr Who example, I was one of those who (gently, I'll add) put down Matt based on his looks but then I also was really hyped up for Karen just because she's Scottish. Such small details define what you think of people in stuff like this, and that's fine on a small, gossipy level. But there seem to be some Skins fans who are literally giving up on this lot based solely on the photo.

Seriously, if you have even a passing interest in folk music of any kind then make every effort and GET TO THAT FESTIVAL!
