Go Suck It, VFTW

Dec 04, 2009 02:23

So, as I'm sure is no surprise by this point in the game, I am a HUGE fan of Adam Lambert; not one of those creepy stalker fans, but one who thinks that he has great potential and wants to see him succeed. Anyhoo, occasionally I would log on to VFTW while the American Idol 8 season was ongoing because they would often have funny recaps of the ( Read more... )

God. What assholes. My rage knows no bounds at this.

Adam is GOOD. Forget that he's gay. He's GOOD.

Exactly! It sucks that so many people are focusing on his orientation and not his talent! I mean, out of all of the AI contestants over the past 8 seasons, Adam is one of the only ones who I think has SHEER TALENT to exceed his granted fifteen minutes of fame and actually have a decent career (like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Chris Daughtry), yet there are little bastard groups who are trying to sabotage that.

I mean, if listening to the man's album results in the phrase "He's be a good performer if we weren't a queer" (as many people who have posted on that site have said) that person obviously has no right to judge music >

He had the courage to be who he is. But our society sucks.

Is his album out??? O__O Because I think I heard it was but Best Buy doesn't have it!! >.> And I can't find his songs ANYWHERE to listen to... (Without downloading, I feel the need to say in case YOU can link me...)

It came out a week or two ago...right after the AMA's incident I remember. I got mine from Wal-Mart because they were sponsoring a Kris/Adam/Allison promotion since their albums came out one week after another.

It is in stock on Amazon, and you can preview the songs there. I just checked, and no one has put the album on MEGAUPLOAD (where I usually download my CD's) yet.

Not quite sure what this is all about, but if it's homophobia, I'm against it, especially when it seems to be such a focussed attack on somebody and his career. Tht he's gay is obviously the only thing that matters and negates all other achievements.

As to the "my 5-year-old kid was watching the AMA's and saw Adam Lambert kiss another man and now he needs sufficient counseling and church camp so he doesn't turn gay from seeing that": *sigh* I wish people could be more like children, because children aren't homophobic arseholes - they only become that way through their parents/environment. Plus, kids get ideas without watching the evil gays openly - my daughter told me she was sure that the two policemen in the Pippi Longstocking TV series were in love with each other. She was four.

My little cousins are like that. One of them is eleven now and she was watching xxxHOLIC with me. First, she asked if Watanuki as a girl. Then when I said no, she was like "Oh... So him and the other guy are gay?" XD I was saying "No" because my mother was in the room... but her response to it was "They totaly are. And anyway, there isn't anything WRONG with that." I was laughing so hard inside because this little girl is more mature than most adults I know.

I agree. This is only going to reinforce the incorrect concept to young children that homosexuality is "bad" is they keep making it a big deal. Even if they don't outright tell their children that "it's bad to be gay" or something, kids can pick up on stuff easily and will draw that conclusion on their own. =/

Her mom lets them make their own decisions on these topics. So apparently my cousin decided she thinks there's nothing wrong with being gay. I totaly wish I could be that open IRL about how I feel on the subject. The closest I got was actualy, ironicly, when I was watching American Idol and bro was bad-mouthing Adam for wearing nail polish and I said "But he's an awesome singer. And this is a singing competition. His voice is all I'm concerned with." Which, y'know, seriously... I never got why people have to get all freaky about knowing about a singer's personal life. I buy the cd because I like how they sing. Not because of the kind of person they are. The music is what matters here--And he's a WONDERFUL singer.

If it were just people protesting the sexual content of his performance in general, and those same people get offended seeing straight sexuality on display on TV, then I still disagree but at least can understand where they're coming from. It's the people who see nothing problematic about really aggressive male sexuality and passive, acquiescent female sexuality in the media but get their undies all twisted up about OMG BOYS KISSING that I really can't stand.

I know! You see worse than that performance on some of those reality shows that ABC shows at like 7pm WHEN LOTS OF CHILDREN ARE STILL AWAKE, only it's guy/girl love so they don't complain. It's ridiculous!
