Ai couldn't believe it; she had already made a friend her second day in Tokyo, and she was even coming over for dinner tonight. She couldn't wait for Kyou to arrive at six. Her mother was in the kitchen making her homemade curry, and her father sat at the kotatsu reviewing something work-related.

Ai skipped down the hall to her room to clean herself

Kyou walked down the street, looking at all the buildings as she went past, counting up to the number she was looking for. Her hands clutched a bunch of flowers nervously. Her mother had suggested she take some as a thank-you to Ai's parents for allowing her to come round, but now that she thought of it, it seemed to be a rather romantic gift. She sighed.

When she'd found the number she wanted, she double checked the address on her mobile. Satisfied that she had the right one, she smoothed down her hair, glanced down quickly at her outfit and pressed the doorbell. Hopefully, nobody in the family had a pollen allergy.

Ai jumped with surprise as the doorbell rang merrily.

"She's here," Ai whispered to herself. She ran to the door, forgetting to change her footwear, and threw herself around the unexpecting figure.

"Kyou-chan~!" Ai giggled as she hugged her friend with joy.

"Good evening, Ai-chan!" Kyou hugged the bright-haired girl back with a massive smile. She held on tightly to the flowers, making sure not to drop them on the floor. "How are you?" She asked, peeking into the house behind Ai, her curiosity getting the better of her.

"I missed you! Whoa~! Pretty flowers," Ai said, detatching herself from Kyou's neck and instead took the other girl's free hand in both of hers.

"Mom, dad, Kyou's here. She brought pretty flowers, too," Ai smiled as she ushered her new guest into the apartment by the hand, closing the door behind them.

"Kyou, this is my mom, Reiko. And this is my dad, Senichi. Mom, dad, this is Kyou-chan," Ai introduced with a bright smile. Momo barked excitedly as he wove himself between people, recognizing Kyou from earlier.

"Its very nice to meet you, Kyou-chan," Reiko smiled warmly at the girl.
"Yes, indeed. Thank you for taking care of Ai so well. She's been known to be quite the handful," Senichi laughed. "Let's go into the other room, shall we?"
"And I'll put the flowers into some water, if that's ok," Reiko suggested, nodding towards the flowers that Kyou held.

"Hai~!" Ai agreed with her father, leading the way, her hand still around Kyou's.

With a sigh of content, Ai snuggled herself further into Kyou's lap. She had falled fast asleep by now, and practically resembled a toddler. Reiko shook her head with a chuckle.

"I'll go grab some pajamas for you to borrow," Reiko smiled, and left the room. She returned shortly with a pair of gray, flannel pants and loose t-shirt.

"I'm sure Ai wouldn't mind borrowing you a pair of her own, but they're most likely still packed up," Reiko explained as she handed the clothes to Kyou. "Feel free to change in the bathroom or in here."

"And you," Reiko sighed, amused by her daughter's state. "Whatever will we do with you?" Picking up the pair of discarded yellow, cotton shorts and light blue tank top from the floor that Ai had worn the night before, Reiko began to change her daughter into the sleepwear. Ai continued to sleep peacefully, and obviously undisturbed.

"Would like to just share Ai's bed with her? Or we could bring in a spare futon for you," Reiko asked.

Kyou started changing, undisturbed about the fact that Reiko was still in the room with her. She didn't look at Ai while she was being changed, respecting the sleeping girl's privacy.

"I'll just share the bed. It's big enough for both of us, and it's less hassle than you bringing in a futon. Besides, she looks too comfortable like this." She remembered about the icepack on her wrist. "Where do you want me to put this?" She stood up, folding her clothes and laying them beside the bed

"I'll just take that back to the kitchen if you're done with it," Reiko answered, shifting her light daughter with ease under the covers and to one side of the bed. Ai curled up and snuggled into her pillow out of habit, still very asleep.

"Oyasuminasai," Reiko whispered with a wave. Taking the ice pack, she left the two girls to sleep.

"Oyasuminasai."

Kyou lifted up the covers, slipping under them and lying close to Ai. She closed her eyes, happy and contented. It had been a while since she'd slept so close to someone else, and it was nice to have another warm body beside her. She yawned, stifling it in the blankets and listened to the other breathe in her sleep. Not soon after, she fell asleep.
