It would take a minute, immersed as he was in the papers he was reading. Eventually, it was more the smell of food than the noise that caught his attention, and he glanced up.
"Wh-- Hey..." He hadn't been expecting that. "How long have you been there?"
[[Sorry! Later pinging in than I thought I'd be, even. Sigh, job. Sigh.]]
"I prefer 'hot'," he told her, pulling a face as he got up, bringing the papers with him. "If that's at all possible. I feel like an accountant." Which was basically the look he was sporting these days. Jordan was busily schooling him into playing the face of the company, since his ability was that bit more popular with the general population than most.
"Hot works," she said with a smile, then shook her head. "No, no. No papers. I bribed your secretary to make sure you had no visitors, no calls, no anything."
