Title: A Very Lytton Halloween 2011 Prompt: In the dark of winter, the deep darkness of the forest isn't a safe place to be. It's dangerous to wake the trees. A/N: Written for sharp_teeth, betaed by the fantastic charliechaplin2.
Quick quick comment! I really loved this and how (for me at least) the scary wasn't so much horror movie suspense/heart jumping into throat/monster leaping out scary but more this low-lying, creeping, insidious kind of scary that's all the more powerful when juxtaposed against all the very mundane, realistic elements. And definite points for not cheesy gory horror. I LOVED that it was Neph/Minako :) I have a fondness for this pairing, mostly in friendship instead of romance. I love how he calls her and her first question for him is if he's okay, even though that's the question he wants to ask her after his creepycreepycreepy dream. And she came to look for him and she also goes poof!! ;; I kind of thought Makoto might be in the woods in a controlling the trees kind of way and I'm glad she wasn't. Wonderful fall/Halloween story and beautiful, delicious, and spooky writing!

I have a fondness for this pairing, mostly in friendship instead of romance. Me too! But unlike you, I do quite like them together as a couple. It can never end well, but I do like them. I once cajoled Elvis into writing a wonderful Nephrite/Venus story, you can find it here: http://elvisvf101.livejournal.com/119786.html
As a country bumpkin who spent most of her early life running around forests like a feral child, I can attest to the creepiness of being alone in the woods when it's fall and dank and dripping and there are leaves and pine needles and moss under your feet that go squish and you're quite sure that something is going to jump out and get you (even worse when something does jump out at you which makes you scream like a banshee until you realize it's only your older brother and then you go crying home TO MO-O-O-O-M).
Right, where was I? Oh yes, this story is creepy as HELL! Poor Noel and poor Mina and who is the old man? And omg what if the trees EAT (or whatever it is they do..) THEM ALL!? Not that I necessarily want you to write more of this verse, but yes.
You write so beautifully and so vividly and fuck it if birch trees aren't going to haunt me now.

Oh bless, you are ADORABLE.

Thanks for your hilarious comment and watch out for those trees!
Wow. I'm late as I don't know what, but I have to comment any way :)
This is amazing writing (but I expect nothing less from you). I had completely forgotten how amazing you are at writing things that make the skin crawl, the heart race, and sleep impossible.
How I forgot is beyond me (since that's the second main reason that I started reading your works), but I know I'll never ever ever forget again (I hope).
Thank you! I love writing dark things, love, love, love, so I'm quite happy that Halloween and sharp_teeth came around to let me flex my scary fingers a little bit.

I dreamt of ponies and flowers and love last night, so I think I left my bad juju with you.
