Fic: On Razor's Edge - Chapter Ten

Title: On Razor’s Edge - Chapter 10
Summary: Crystal Tokyo has arrived. So has Ando Tanaka.
Warnings: Oh, lots and lots of swearing. But other than that, tame.
A/N: As always, I am bowing to charliechaplin2 who sees everyhing and knows everything and likes this fic anyway. Also, our mid-chapter-sing-along was terrific; Britney and Dido have got nothing on us!

lytton, WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN?! i am so behind on reviewing this amazingness (like...six chapters behind...) but it's not because i don't LOVE what you're doing, it's because i have so many thoughts after i read each chapter (usually on my phone, while crossing busy streets, yelling futilely at my screen, as people stare at the loony) that it takes me some time to get it all together. now, i'd hoped to do things properly and review everything in order but the revelations of these last two chapters have dashed any chance of that, because OMG OMG OMG. warning, i may go capslock on you more than entirely warranted...

Whenever the two appeared in public together, a not too rare occurrence given how their professional lives intersected, both men adopted a polite, but unfeeling facade.

Takeshi had very little patience for politicians and the thought of having to become one was repellent to him.i love how you've handled the tricky timeline here, jumping back and forth between where we left off and two years later. i spent all of chapter 9

and just like you locked us out of takeshi's head last time around, now i am practically RABID to know how minako has been post-breakup. of course they're on cordial terms, but...you are EVIL the way you brush so lightly over their sparse interactions in this chapter, and leave us to wonder what they're thinking. and for that matter, what everyone else is thinking? sure, it's been two years, but they were together for fifteen! how have the rest of the friendships shaken out, and was there any initial awkwardness when it came to "sides"? also, why do i feel like takeshi's dislike of ando has only intensified in the time since his return? >D

okay, now some shorter things...

He made a mental note of the guard’s name; Haruka would take care of a replacement.i just have to say, you are so sly slipping this in there...i did a double take when i saw the name casually tossed in there! how did they resolve all their huge, future-shattering, nemesis-

I don't even know how many times I've read your comment and broke into mad giggles when I reached this part. I love writing Aiko and Takeshi. Those two are so cute, they break my heart.

I'm tired and have had two glasses of wine after working at Vacation Bible School (at which, no, I did not teach Bible, I sang the same children's songs over and over).

So forgive the suckiness of this response (I shall endeavor to do better tomorrow during break or lunch).

I'm not sure how more intelligible I can be today.

So, I will say, I tend to start waking up around 5 each morning though my alarm does not go off until 6. And for that hour, probably b/c of Sets being involved and it being about time, I argued with Takeshi in my not fully awake state. Sadly I do not remember the details.

I love how complex this has become, how inprecise the break up was, how vulnerable we see Takeshi feeling at several points. (I refuse to fully think about the Attila situation for the same reasons that I could not currently watch Marley and Me.)

I like how Minako seems to have relegated Takeshi's role in her life--he doesn't know whatever it is Usagi is talking about and when he tries to ask about whoever "he" might be, she cuts him off.

I really do just want to hug them all though.

I love that you sing songs to kids. Not that you need them, but even more brownie points for you! You sing songs to kids and have a doggie.
And yes: all the hugs. All the hugs to all the people. Because oh boy, do they need them.

I have too many feels for this chapter. How do you make Takeshi so dark and mysterious and powerful and angsted? And then you kill his puppy? Waaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!

Also, Aiko may or may not be my favorite supporting character. That is all.

Aiko is a darling. Charlie gave me a few really, really good pointers as to where to take Aiko and how to write her. The bit about the colours and the Smarties was all Charlie; she's one hell of a smart cookie.

And Takeshi is dark and mysterious and powerful and angsted because... well, he's Kunzite. It's kind of in the job description. As for how I made him so; as you pointed out, I killed his puppy. Few things angstier than that.
