Small venues are THE BEST. Trust. Big venues are a big pain in the ass and if you only sell 100 tickets they look cavernous and lame - small venues always feel warm and intimate and comfortable and they're the best to book and also to go see shows at. You should approach really big bands - don't hold back. You can sell it as "secret" intimate shows for the "true" fans, even if they already have a big show somewhere else. Tokyo Police Club plays a 100 cap venue here all the time under a secret name, sometimes the night before some HUGE show somewhere else. So do a bunch of people. We have a 100 cap and Fleet Foxes played there at the height of everything - it sold out in less than 1 minute & everyone talked about it all year. You are going to LOVE it! Let me know if you need anything!
