Summary: It's funny how I only really took notice of the rain after I met you.

It could not get any more boring than this, Hyukjae thought. He was in third period Math. He really despised the subject. He could not understand for the life of him why they were being tortured in this class. In his brilliant opinion, it was enough that he knew the four basic operations. What’s up with Geometry anyway? It’s not like he was going to measure the carton of his strawberry milk when he gets home. Still, he acted his part as a good student and pretended to take notes.

Donghae on the other hand decided to pull him out of his reverie by throwing a piece of crumpled paper that landed on top of his desk.
He was startled at first then caught the grin plastered on his best friend’s face. He mouthed "Wth is this?" and unfolded the paper. Inside was Donghae’s neat hand writing:

Soccer practice. Junsu, you and me. After class, okay!

He scribbled on the paper with his pen. It was the pen given to him by Junsu when he took the entrance exam for high school. He recalled Junsu’s words that day. “Yah! This was the pen I used when I took the entrance test. Since I am cool, I will lend it to you so that some of my smarttness will rub on you. Hyukjae fighting!” Junsu shouted in his ear before pushing him towards the bus. A small smile graced his face upon recalling that fond memory.

Okay. So Jungsu-hyung and Kangin-hyung back from the leadership camp?

He crumpled the paper then threw it back to Donghae. When he lifted his gaze he saw two sunbaes passing by the corridor. The taller one he recognized as the guy from the judo team, he saw him when he and Donghae watched one of Sungmin's practices. He was the Chinese student named Hankyung. He was familiar with the face of the smaller guy next to Hankyung-sunbae but he can't recall his name. He was one of Jungsu-hyung’s classmates. The unknown classmate of Jungsu-hyung looked at him which caused him to bow his head on reflex. The former just nodded his head nonchalantly at him.

Hyukjae looked at his classmates and smirked because they were all in varying states of boredom and sleepiness. Donghae was scribbling on the paper. Siwon was trying his hardest to keep his eyes open while his chin was propped on his palm. Some of the girls in their class stole occasional glances at the good looking Siwon. The guy is known as the prince of the school. Hyukjae cannot really blame the poor girls. Siwon has the looks, the manners and the brain. Some guys have it all, how unfair, Hyukjae thought.

Hyukjae was popular too but he was oblivious about it even if you rub it on his face. He was famous in school for three things: dance, soccer and sense of humor. He was part of the school’s dance and soccer team along with Junsu and Donghae, his two best friends. He always felt grateful that the three of them got accepted in the same school. He met Junsu during late elementary school and Donghae during middle school. They chose this school for its soccer team.It was the best in Seoul, and it's near their houses. He could still remember back when they made a list of all the possible schools they'd attend in high school, and put notes like, "this school has the best looking girls" or "this school serves the most delicious lunch" and other random things they deem important.

The paper was on top of his desk again. He opened it and read Donghae’s reply.

Yeah I think they're back already. I saw Kangin-hyung this morning. Aish, they are going to have a talk for sure later. They will bully us all afternoon, kekeke~ I’m hungry~I wish the bell would ring soon!

He groaned at the response of Donghae, Jungsu-hyung and Kangin-hyung are going to make practice twice as hard later. He likes their captain and co-captain, but whenever they spend some time away from the team, they feel the need to make up for their absence. They would mumble something about discipline and some other leader stuff while making the team run around for hours.Their team is the best because they were being trained harder than everyone else.

After what seemed like hours the bell rang. His classmates woke up from their naps and energetically rose out of their seats. Donghae quickly stood up and smacked his back.

“Hyuk-ah hurry up, I’m starving.” Donghae said.

“Yeah me too, Siwon-ah are you coming?” Hyukjae asked while tucking the paper  between the pages of his Geometry book.

“You two go ahead first, I need to meet up with someone.” Siwon told them.

“Who?” Donghae turned his face to Siwon.

"Just a hyung, he’s a family friend and my mother wanted me to invite him to the party at our house this weekend. The one I told you about, I’m going to introduce him to you guys, he’s a very interesting person.” Siwon grinned at them.

“Sure, interesting you say, but you make it sound like he’s weird.” Hyukjae said while walking towards the door.

“See you later.” Hyukjae and Donghae shouted to Siwon.

**********

They met Sungmin, Shindong and Junsu at their usual spot in the cafeteria. It was the table overlooking the soccer field.

“Why do you always look like that after your Geometry class?” Shindong stated rather than asked Hyukjae and Donghae when they sat down on their table.

“Mmm…do I really need to answer that.” Hyukjae mumbled into his strawberry milk shake.

“Why, don’t you get bored in yours?” Donghae asked Shindong while inspecting his chicken sandwich.

“He’s worse than the two of you put together, he sleeps in class and doesn't even bother to pretend that he's listening.” Sungmin interjected.

Junsu laughed and chocked on his water. “Today he even snored! I had to kick him under the table so that Mr.Shim wouldn’t get distracted and give us a test on the spot.”

“Why were you sleepy anyway?” Donghae asked him.

“The same reason as yours.” Shindong chuckled.

“Where's Siwon?” Junsu asked Hyukjae and Donghae.

“He went to meet up with a hyung to invite him to his family’s party this weekend.”Hyukjae automatically answered.

“Ahh, you guys are coming to Siwon’s party right?” Junsu followed up.

“Yeah.” Four voices said in unison.

Their lunch passed the same way it did everyday with Junsu bickering with Hyukjae, and Donghae laughing at their antics. Shindong was cracking a joke every five minutes and Sungmin along with the others were clutching their stomachs in so much laughter. Siwon only appeared during the last ten minutes of their lunch time because he was treated to lunch by the hyung he met up with.

**********

Hyukjae was walking alone on his way home for the first time in a long time. He always walked this familiar route with Donghae and Junsu since freshman year. He passed several students talking excitedly with their friends. He suddenly missed walking with the two idiots. They are now in second year, and he cannot believe the two of them managed to piss off Kangin-hyung, and ended up staying later than the other members for their extra training which directly translates to running around the soccer field until Kangin-hyung was satisfied or until Jungsu-hyung pities them .

He would have waited for them but he needed to buy *gochujang for the *bibimbap his mother was going to make for dinner. After buying the spicy paste he neatly stuffed it inside his messenger bag and headed home.

He was humming to the song being played on his iPod when he felt cold drops of water falling on his face. He looked up and saw the grey sky. It was raining, and he forgot his umbrella. He wanted to run and stay under a tree, or something but decided to just continue walking since a little rain wouldn’t hurt.

"He must have been a sight. An auburn haired teen walking under the rain not seemed to be the least bit bothered by the soft pelting of the rain on his skinny frame, a dance track blaring from his earphones. The glint in his eyes reflected the epitome of his youth, oblivious to his surroundings and caught up in his own world. The scent of the rain on the earth was sweet as he passed by."

After a while the rain got heavier. He broke into a run, his left hand trying to shield his head from the rain. He was cursing himself for not foreseeing the rain when he felt a warm hand shove an open umbrella on his right hand startling him from his thoughts. His head turned to the direction where the umbrella came from. He saw someone with a hooded jacket jog away and stop a cab opposite his direction. He wasn’t able to see the face of the person, or even thank him. He was left wondering why that person gave him an umbrella without even saying anything.

What an unusual and thoughtful person he mused.
