i don't really talk to anyone from home anymore, either.
but i guess it's because i choose not to talk to them.

i know exactly how you feel, because ive left "home" several times now.

Its not that people dont miss you, because they do. just dont expect the world to stop turning for a welcome home extravaganza... and you cant rely on any dreams of running embraces from any one person in particular. in the large scheme of things, for most people you play only a small part of their lives.
and when you leave, people adapt.
they live on. life goes on.

i don't expect the world to stop, i would just hope that if we haven't spoken in a while that a friend would take the time to talk to me rather than not talk to me for weeks, drop a bomb on me and go back to being quiet. but i know what you mean, and for others, minus the individual i'm referring to, i probably do feel the way you describe.
