BACKGROUND AND PERSONALITY: Utau is a fourteen-year-old model-turned-idol! She is the daughter of Aruto Tsukiyomi, a famous violinist, and Souko Hoshina, only daughter of the family that runs the powerful Easter Company. --Hey shut up they are a SRS business. Anyway, at one point in her life, she was known as Utau Tsukiyomi! Although the Easter Company did not approve of Aruto and Souko's marriage, Utau lived happily with her parents and her brother Ikuto, whom she loved dearly.
However, her father suddenly vanished one day, taking his prized violin with him; it was widely speculated that Easter was responsible for his disappearance. Souko then remarried a man the children gravely disliked, and the family started to fall apart. A number of years later, Aruto's violin somehow made it back to the family; Ikuto then took the violin and ran away from home.
It was around this time that Utau was hired as a model under a division of Easter, using her mother's maiden name. She was never happy with this position, having been forced into the job; Easter wanted her to provide fanservice, but all she wanted to do was sing meaningful songs, from her heart. She eventually did become a singer, but rather than singing songs she wanted, they tied in with her model image. Nevertheless, she put up with it, since Easter more or less ran her life. Plus, she was promised that they would help her see Ikuto again.
Sure enough, one day, she saw a newspaper article about Ikuto being spotted in Triou, being intimate with a pink-haired girl she had never met. Utau believed that she was the only one for Ikuto, and this made her very angry! Almost instantly, she made the decision to move to Triou, accompanied by her manager--she started working with Black Out, an affiliate of Easter.
Upon reuniting with Ikuto and meeting the girl, Utau flat-out told her to stay the hell away from her brother. However, due to subsequent encounters with the girl, Utau changed and befriended her! She realized that what she was doing with Easter wasn't ever going to make her happy, and that she would have freedom if she left them. She did so, and switched to Zenith, where she finally became the singer she always dreamed she would be.
At first, Utau can seem to be a cold and cruel person; this is mostly due to her rough childhood. She sees most things as pointless and trivial, and could care less about how other people feel. Whether it means being blunt, acting like a bitch, or just ignoring the other person, she'll do anything to get someone to leave her alone. However, if she's somewhat interested in someone, she's prone to challenging them!! Especially to food battles!! Yeah I don't even--it's canon though. :(b
... She's also hopelessly in love with her brother. Like, actually attracted to him, because incest is totally best. Whenever he's around, her personality does a near 180; she becomes...more or less, a fangirl. She'll do absolutely anything for him, and constantly fawns over him. When talking to other people about him, she'll get overenthusiastic, and if the other person shows any signs of interest in him, she will get pissed off so fast.
Once you get to know her and she considers you a friend--which would take a lot of patience and persistence--she can actually be a nice person! ... Mind you, she'll still bitch and nag every now and then, but not nearly as much as if you were a stranger. She might actually open up to you, though, because she is technically still a troubled teen, and she'll be a lot more willing to talk. Good luck getting that far, though!
--Also a thing to note is that Utau has had two different stage names/alter egos: "Lunatic Charm" and "Seraphic Charm"! Lunatic Charm is on the verge of being sadistic, while "Seraphic Charm is, as her name implies, an angel. She hasn't used either of these personas in a while, but it's to be of note...!
FIRST PERSON SAMPLE: So, my next single should be coming out soon... hmph. I don't really like this one as much as my last. Honestly, I don't know what my manager was thinking. Then again, it's not as bad as the kinds of songs I used to sing... whatever gets records sold, I guess. I won't tolerate any stupid comments, though.
I suppose I should start planning my next album soon. I hope my manager doesn't insist on trying to get me to get a stage persona again. Things like that are so unnecessary. "Lunatic Charm" and "Seraphic Charm" should just be given a rest. The only reason people liked them was their outfits, anyway. If people can't like me for who I am, then it's completely pointless for them to be listening to me in the first place.
Hm, she gave me the details on my next song earlier, too. I haven't looked at it yet... I hope this one isn't as ridiculous. Mm... "Neko Nikki"? ... Ah, Ikuto likes cats, doesn't he? This could be it! I could dedicate it to Ikuto and he'll love it and me! And then we can go have dinner at my favorite restaurant, and catch up and have a romantic night together... I'm looking forward to it already!
