CBS will debut new hour drama The Unit, Tuesday, March 7, at 9-10 p.m. Amazing Race, which premieres Feb. 28, will move to Tuesday at 10 starting March 7 as well.
That Tuesday 10 p.m. slot is where Love Monkey currently airs, the relationship drama about young, hip, New Yorkers that seems more a fit with the Friends crowd at NBC than at older-skewing, procedural-loving CBS, and in any event has not been buring up the Nielsen charts.
A CBS programming spokesman said the show's fate has yet to be determined, and would not say whether it would get a new time period or just exit, though odds are the latter. There are no apparent holes in the schedule, no limited arc series ending about that time that would provide an opeining for Monkey to swing to. The show will have aired five of its 8-episode order by then.
Maybe that means a web life a la the canceled Night Stalker on ABC, whose unaired episodes will get 'Net play. No comment from CBS.
The Unit, from David Mamet (The Verdict, The Untouchables) and Shawn Ryan (The Shield), is about a covert team of special forces operatives and the women who protect their covers.
