To achieve virtue in the absolute sense~" A man must be willing to take the foulest crimes upon his soul-for the sake of his brothers. To mortify the flesh is nothing. To mortify the soul is the only act of virtue. So you think you love the broad mass of mankind? You know nothing of love. You give two bucks to a strike fund and you think you’ve ( Read more... )

Well, in order to understand mankind's actions, you must first understand mankind. To make this easier, I have divided mankind into it's two root words: mank and ind. These words are both jibberish, thus, mankind will forever remain a mystery.

Do you still feel the same about what Ellsworth said now that you know a little more about him Laura?
Look at what he said again. "To achieve virtue in the absolute sense." I guess my question is what point is there in being virtuous? It sounds nice to say those things, and as Ayn Rand put it "Heroic", but really it seems to me that the point of being virtuous is not the act of being, but what you've done to become that way. Toohey focuses more on how to become virtuous rather than the good you do while becoming that way I think. Which in my opinion speaks volumes about that power hungry bastard.

Wow.....this was a long time ago....it's kind of funny that I'm finding it now and am feeling the urge to comment on it. I'm kind of strung out and crazy feeling right now so bear with me. I guess I could say a lot of things with this on varying philosphical levels ranging from something like "Life is a matter of perception one mans prison is anothers paradise"....to something very blandlike...all the way down to a basic "humans are t3h sux0rz"....but in honesty I think a nod and an unassuming smile might be the the best statement I could make...assuming that makes sense to others and not only myself. ^_^ I hope your doing well....we need to talk more...I'm happy to see you have been having a period of self discovery...whether it's your new found faith in god or the belief in any truths you've seen.

P.S. Thank you for always accepting me for who I am.....as crazy as I am you deserve a complimentary slushie.
