Dana was sitting at the small circular table with her hands wrapped around a coffee cup. She'd gotten up from bed as soon as the sun came up; untangling herself from around Mulder to find some peace alone. She loved him, she did. But she had to step back and think. About everything.

She was lost in her thoughts about what they were going to have to do about Samantha when a voice interrupted her. Looking up, she sat up taller in her chair. What the fuck was with all of these people out here?! Reyes, Harlow, and now this guy?

Her eyes narrowed. "I do mind. And I don't have anything to discuss with you. If A.D. Skinner wants me to cooperate with yet another Agent on my case with Agent Mulder, then he can call me directly."

I manage a smirk when he mentions unsual case work. I must admit I'm eager for an answer to the questions that have been raised in this town, but I have no delusions that this man will be ( ... )

"Actually, I have been briefed on the history of the X-Files, and unlike most of the agents in our department, I don't find it the least bit implausible. I'm sure you know the reputation that the X-Files has within the Bureau. But I'm here to assure you, I have nothing but respect and interest in the cases you and Agent Mulder pursue. Most field agents, they don't see more than serial killers and tax evasions, they don't look too deep into dark rooms to assume there may be something more beyond it ( ... )
