After a lot of arguing and reassurances that Sam would be fine and safe, I finally got the agents to leave. I left Sam tucked into Buffy's old bed, trying to ignore the irony. Spike would be taking her to his lair in the morning. He kept saying he should take her now, under the cover of night, but I felt uncomfortable with that idea. Suddenly ( Read more... )

She'd become more and more confused and more and more agitated as the morning went on. Everyone was everywhere and she'd been pushed and prodded and coaxed all morning and groomed like a tiny little trembling chiuaua. She'd been still and quiet, for the most part, rubbing at her arms and face with the heels of her hands and mumbling to herself sometimes. Till they tried to take her outside ( ... )

Right, interesting turn of events might I say. Guess red got those agents or whoever the hell they were to leave. Never thought that one would leave, could tell the sod cared bout her but that didn’t matter, that wasn’t what Sam needed. We all decided she’d go back to my place, guess it was safer there. Still surprised they fell for letting her stay with me, they weren’t too keen on me to begin with. I wasn’t complaining at all, wasn’t going to let her out of my sight to begin with, didn’t really matter what any of the Scoobies said.

Did the whole coat thing and made our way back to my place. Should’ve seen some of the looks we got, well that I got with my leather duster on over me. Didn’t care one bit though.

"no more screaming!" “That’s right love, no more screaming.” I re assured her as she headed right for my bed. Guess she liked the old thing, then again we did share something special in it not too long ago. Still couldn’t shake that night out of my head, the way I felt with her, couldn’t be beaten with anything else ( ... )

"We sort of.. have reason to believe that.. something big is after Sam. To take her back where she came from," I blurted out. I glanced nervously at the back of Samantha as she lay curled on Spike's bed. "Make sure no one knows she's here, okay?"

The material feels good against her cheek, fingers dancing along the surface of the sheets, which were covered in man scent, and a vague tang of sex that made her remember all sorts of sweaty things. Maybe this was her punishment. They'd all called her easy.

The bed is covered in throw pillows and rumpled blankets, well this won't do. One by one, she takes each pillow on the bed and drops it on the floor next to it. She then busies herself smoothing and tucking the covers carefully. Taking great care and effort to make sure the surface of the blanket is free of wrinkles. no more sin.

She notices for the first time the walls are made of stone and she walks to one, running her fingers over the bumpy surface. There in the dark in this place she felt calmer, the air wasn't so hot and she could breathe it easier because it wasn't so thick. It's then and only then that Willow's voice punctures her thoughts. Her head turns sharply.

"I can't go back."
