Michael, quick review: Capitalism is an economical system whereas Democracy is a governmental system. America happens to be both. We like to call it the Free Market Economy or what have you to make it sound better but it's still Capitalism. Socialism can be both an economical and governmental system and usually refers the integration of the economy... Legi plu with the government so to allow for more equal wealth; so that 4/5ths of the money doesn't wind up in the hands on 1/5th of the people or whatever it is now. It helps prevent dramatic crashing of economies and funds services now considered by much of the world (ie. Universal Health Care) to be basic.

I find it slightly comical that you ask someone to insult you correctly when you don't even spell out your words.

That's just me I suppose.

Wow, um, dude...
Get a life

Get a brain. Turns out those are more useful.OpheliaFierce je 7:49ptm julio 1

They allow you to come up with more educated and convincing arguments than "Get a life."OpheliaFierce je 7:51ptm julio 1

Direct reply to Lauren's actual status: No one wants it because those who teach us, bring us our news, and vote grew up in Cold War or Post Cold War America and were trained to think Socialism was just the doorway to Communism. Which it isn't so to the rest of the world we look rather silly for bashing it so passionately.

Dalton Mills je 7:52ptm julio 1

Its just sad to see that we have fallen so far as to actually begin to accept socialism as a good thing.

OpheliaFierce je 8:41ptm julio 1

So what exactly is the problem with socialism? Because so far none of you have offered anything concrete.OpheliaFierce je 8:45ptm julio 1

Oh and socialism doesn't mean giving up your vote. There are many socialist democracies already in existence.

Dalton Mills je 9:36ptm julio 1

if you really want to do your research you can look at countries like Canada and Great Britain they are relatively socialist countries and though they dont sound that bad you dont see people risking their lives to cross the border and enter those countries. They have things like socialized health care which means health care is paid through your ... Legi plutaxes which sounds great until your actually sick and they put you on a waiting list. The death rate for cancer patients in canada is 16% higher than it is here in america and socialism is the reason. In socialism many cases the govt takes your freedoms and the people who work hard end up having to pay for the slackers capitalism and also democracy are the very reasons this country has been so successful.

OpheliaFierce je 9:45ptm julio 1

You I'm totally the kind of person that would argue for something they know nothing about. Seriously? Come on. Socialism isn't something you pick up and go "Hey people like this so I'll say it's good too." Yet...

Oh my god. You've converted me. I think I'll go buy a gun and hang an American flag from my roof.
Are you so naive as to think that ... Legi plueveryone in the poorest tax bracket is a slacker? Because if you are go register with the Republican party. They'll love you. Capitalism has created this vicious cycle where the worker is paid the least (the worker, who does the actual work!). They lack education and funds to prevent pregnancy and have kids who grow up and can't afford an education, live in poor neighborhoods with street violence. They can't get into college so they take the low income jobs their parents have and the cycle repeats. I know too many good people to believe the poor don't work hard, that they don't have goals or ambitions.

Obviously the middle and upper classes are the only ones with dreams and feelings and work ethic.

Are you saying that because people don't make money they shouldn't have access to basic medical care? That they deserve to die? Doesn't seem too Christian to me (assuming you are).

And what would the capitalists do with out the easily exploitable source of labor? The whole system crumbles if you don't keep the poor poor which is just ridiculous. ... Legi plu

Canada and their infamous cancer death rates are the product of on the fence socialism. They basically have a half and half system that is poorly organized and steeped in bureaucratic crap. Their socialized care looks a lot more like the insurance we pay for out of pocket which there again is just stupid (we end up paying a heck of a lot more for essentially the same thing they're getting). They aren't socialist. They're not even moderately socialist.

Socialism does not take away any freedoms of the people. That's communism...

And socialism and communism are not synonymous with each other. As soon as rights of the people are valued over the rights of the individual, that's where communism begins. And guess what? We have very similar ideals (which oddly enough seem to be held by conservatives) that when a person's right interferes with the right of the greater whole then ... Legi pluthe person's right is inferior.

"if you really want to do your research you can look at countries like Canada and Great Britain they are relatively socialist countries and though they dont sound that bad you dont see people risking their lives to cross the border and enter those countries."
Ok seriously. Seriously?! Think about this. America borders a 1st world country (Canada) and a 2nd world country (Mexico). Mexico does not border Canada. I promise you it doesn't. People who flee from Mexico don't have the resources to flee much farther than the border states (mostly because they're from a 2nd world country). They just want out of...
Marz Kay Holtzworth je 10:10ptm julio 1

...their second world country. They aren't thinking, "Well Canada has socialized health care, let's go take advantage of them." or "America doesn't have socialized health care so it's better, let's go there." They go where they can get jobs and there just simply aren't as many agriculture and semi-skilled (which is what most immigrants work in) ... Legi plujobs in Canada. Plus it's a lot farther and being that there aren't job opportunities and it puts them that much farther away from their families (not too mention cost them twice the fortune it cost to get them into the United States), they aren't going to go.

To speak more candidly, it really sounds like you're just pulling stock excuses out of bag you're parents have raised you with or your friends tell you is cool or whatever it is these day.
