This series is so freaking unexpected! I'm constantly caught by surprise with the sudden jokes or the deadpan humor, and this... this is the most awesome and adorable thing of all! I'm all giggly with delight and just plain amusement.
This is what happened:
The genius strategist Yalu Leonis (name as provided in the Viet version; not sure if it's the official name) was targeted by the "Ma Nhan" or, in English, Ghost Men. They're after his intellect and tried to find a way to go around Fan Ganma Bizen and the number one fighter in the world Sanoo Tuban. What they did was to use a spell on Sinta (again, Viet name; I think the real name from the Japanese version is Baiden or something like that), who used to be part of them, or rather, one of the apprentices. It made Sinta believe that since he was only an apprentice, he was inferior to them and always will be, and had to obey them.
What were Fan and Sanoo going to do? One of their own had turned against them. Sanoo was all, what are we going to do now, Fan? And Fan, with a confident smile, figured out the enemies' plans and said that since the others were using a spell to control Sinta, another spell must be used to counteract it. This would be difficult, as the spells are apparently in another language and a secret knowledge at that. How would Fan know it? The other two Ghost Men smirked and called him stupid as they continued saying the spell, making Sinta attack Fan and Sanoo. Just when Sinta jumped into the air and were about to slash them, Fan shouted loudly, "Halt! I am Mitasha!" Sinta had a stunned look and went completely still!
Kyyyyaaa, it's so utterly adorable! In my other post, I mentioned that at one point, Sinta had two girls in his arms, one was Maia, and the other one was crying into his chest. This other girl is Mitasha (once again, I think her name is different in the Jap version), and she had been with Fan's group for nearly as long as Sinta has, and actually has a connection with him. They met when they were children, and apparently, he "gave her flowers" once, although Sinta didn't seem to remember this incidence while he did recognize her.
In any case, there has been no other real indication of romantic development between them ever since besides the fact that both Mitasha and Maia are a lot more comfortable with Sinta now (he's almost always the one to grab them and take them to the lower cabin when they don't listen to Fan and go down themselves). The closest thing to it was one little conversation between Mitasha and Sinta about being seasick, lasting for one page, and the only significant thing about it was that for once, it was just them two, with no one else around (well, until Nik interrupted).
And all this is why I am so caught off guard by Fan's sudden use of Mitasha's name to negate the Ghost Men's spell over Sinta's mind. I mean, "Sinta, I am Sanoo!" Slash slash. "I am FAN!" Slash slash slash slash. "I AM MITASHA!" Complete stop. XDDDD It is so cute I can't take it. Man, Sinta, I love you. Fan, I love you, too, for noticing. :DDDDD
