Narrator's POV
The next day, without saying goodbye to anyone, Alice left; silently praying that she would one day she would see Jasper again.
Two months later she sat at the dining room table of her mother's California mansion eating breakfast. Alba entered the dining room with little Joshua and proceeded to feed her grandson a bottle.
"Eat for mommy," she cooed.
Alice looked up from her cereal and glared at her mother. "Excuse me?" she asked.
Alba looked up confused. "Is something wrong Alice?" she questioned
"Did you just say that you were his mother?"
"Oh sweetie, I know we agreed that you would be his mother, but is that really what's best for Joshua?"
"So it's better to lie to him his whole life?"
Alba laughed as though Alice was a child who didn't know what she was talking about.
"Eat your breakfast," she said dropping the subject.
Alice dropped her spoon and left the room. A few minutes later she came back with a suitcase and a baby bag. She went over to her mother and took Josh out of her hands.
Alba looked back and forth between the bags and Alice. "What are you doing?" she asked her daughter.
"I'm taking my son and I'm leaving," Alice got her bags and left the room once more.
This time Alba followed her. "You can't do that."
Alice quickly turned around with a glare. "Yes I can. I'm his mother. I can take him if I want to. Would you rather I take you to court? I'm sure any judge will give me custody over you."
"Please I need him," Alba begged.
"Why? So you can have another chance at being a parent? You had you're turn and obviously you failed. He's my son and I won't let you ruin him with your lies."
"Please he's all I have. You hate me. I'm all alone," Alba cried as tears ran down her face.
"Please don't take him. We can work something out. You can raise him and change his name. Just don't take him."
Alice let go of her bags and handed the baby over to her mother.
"I won't go."
She walked towards the stairs and just as she was about to go up she turned around.
"And I don't hate you."
2 years later
"Hi Jaylen" Alice cooed as he son ran into her arms. He wrapped his chubby arms around her neck as she squeezed him tight.
"Were you good for grandpa?" she asked. He gave her his heartbreaker smile and nodded.
Alice turned to her father. "Was she?"
Marcus Brandon ruffled Jaylen's long blond curls. "Of course he was."
"Well then ,one little boy is going to get everything he wants for his birthday."
"Oh that reminds me I need you to go get my present."
Alice glares at her father. "You couldn't ask me to get it earlier?"
Marcus shrugged. "I forgot."
Alice put her son down. "Fine I'll go get it."
"Take the boy with you I have to go to the office"
Rolling her eyes Alice held out her hand for her son.
Twenty minutes later Alice entered the bookshop to retrieve that custom made storybook that her father ordered for Jaylen. A very familiar looking bronze haired man came out of the back holding a little girl around the age of two with the same colored hair.
"How may I help you?" he asked.
"Where's Bella?" Alice questioned.
"I decided to give her the day off. And you are?"
"Alice."
"I'm Edward, Bella's husband," he held out his hand which Alice shook. "Nice to meet you," he told her.
"Nice to meet you too."
"I'm Nessie," the little girl in Edward's arms introduced herself.
Alice smiled. "Hi Nessie, this is Jaylen."
Edward looked down at Jaylen. "Hello."
Jaylen hid behind Alice's legs.
Alice smiled down at her son and patted his curls before looking back at Edward. "I was wondering if a book for Marcus Brandon came in."
Edward looked around until he found the book. He started to hand it over but he stopped midway. "Have we met before?" he asked. "I feel like I've seen you somewhere."
"I believe I know your brother Jasper."
"You're his Alice."
She shrugged "I guess so. How is he?"
"Miserable but sober."
"Miserable?" she questioned.
Edward nodded. "Yeah. You broke his heart."
Alice lowered her head and took the book. "Well I must be going. Bye"
Edward waved. "Bye Alice. Goobye Jaylen."
Jaylen looked up and for the first time Edward got a clear view of his face. "Bye," he waved..
"Guess who I just saw today" Edward told Jasper over dinner.
"Who?" he asked
"Alice."
"Alice? What is she doing here?"
Bella looked over at her husband. "Are you talking about Alice Brandon?"
Edward nodded.
"Her father lives here she's visiting him over the summer."
"How do you know her?" Jasper asked.
"I've known her my whole life, remember I introduced you two at Mike Newton's graduation party like three years ago."
"Where does her father live?"
"Why?" Bella asked confused. "Wait is she your Alice?"
Jasper nodded.
Bella gasped. "I had no idea. All this time she was here and you never knew."
"That's not all; she has a son," Edward informed him.
"Isn't Jaylen a cutie?" Bella mused, "him and Renesmee will make the cutest couple"
Edward choked on his food and Jasper patted him on the back.
"No they won't."
"Why not?" Bella asked
"They're cousins."
Bella and Jasper both looked at him confused.
"Her son, Jaylen, looks exactly like Jasper did when he was two."
"That doesn't mean anything," Bella told him. "Alice has always had a thing for blonde haired blue eyed guys. Just because her son sort of looks life Jasper doesn't mean that he's his son."
Jasper sat quietly and thought about the night he and Alice shared. The last time he saw Alice's son the baby was around two months if he did the math correctly then his conception would be around the graduation party making it possible for him to be his father. Suddenly he remembered what Alice said to him "That's better than him growing up to be a junkie like his father". Suddenly I understood why Alice told him to figure it out. He had a kid with Alice and didn't even know it.
"Where does her father live?" Jasper repeated.
"231 north drive."
Jasper got up but before he could leave the room Bella called out to him.
"Please don't do anything stupid!"
Jasper gave her a smile that was identical to Jaylen's. "I won't," he promised.
