"Jasper?" Alice whispered from where she sat on his lap.
"Yeah?"
"Do you want to meet him?" she didn't need to say a name, they both knew who she was referring to.
"Nothing would please me more."
The newly reunited couple softly laughed at how polite he sound.
Alice sat up.
"Jaylen," she called and within a few seconds the small blonde boy came running.
"Yes mommy?"
Alice picked up her son and put him on her lap. "You see this guy right here?"
"Mr. Jasper?"
Alice smiled. "Yes Mr. Jasper, he's not only mommy's friend he's also your father."
Jaylen looked up at Jasper with a blank look on his face. The older blonde held his breath and waited for the boy to say something.
Jaylen turned to his mother. "May I go play now or do I have to stay with you?"
"You may go."
Jaylen climbed off his mother's lap and ran to the swings.
Alice looked up at Jasper, worry clearly showing on her face. "You ok?" she asked.
Jasper put on hand on Alice's back and another beneath her thighs before picking her off his lap and setting her next to him.
"He didn't say anything," Jasper said softly as he looked down on the ground.
"Just give him a while, he needs time to let it sink in."
Jasper turned to her.
"Alice, he looked right at me then asked if he could go play. He doesn't want me and I don't blame him. He deserves more."
"Jasper, don't make me slap you," Alice warned.
"What did I do?" he asked.
"You're always so down on yourself. It's starting to annoy me. Jaylen is going to like you in his own time, you just have to be patient. OK?"
"Ok."
Alice wrapped her arms around Jaspers waist and snuggled into his side. "Now you are going to come over for dinner and you will meet my father, he is going to be the one that will hate you, but don't worry he hates everyone hence why my mother left him."
Jasper let out a small laugh."It seems to me they would have gotten along great, they are just alike."
Alice nudged him. "Hey, those are my parents you're talking about."
"And that's what confuses me. How did two people who have permanent sticks up their asses create a child as cool as you?"
"Well that's one of lives many wonders," Alice joked.
Jasper gave Alice one last kiss goodbye.
"See you tonight," he said and hugged her a bit tighter before letting go. He then bent down to Jaylen. "Well see you," he said and held out his hand, "it was nice meeting you."
Jaylen ignored Jasper's hand instead he wrapped his tiny arms around his neck and squeezed tight.
"Goodbye daddy," he whispered and kissed Jasper's cheek. "I'll miss you."
Jasper wrapped his arms around his son and stood up, "I'll miss you too, but I'll see you again in a little bit."
Jaylen unwrapped his arms and looked Jasper in the eye. "So you're not going to leave and never come back?"
"No, why would you think that?"
"Because you were never there."
Jasper held Jaylen tighter and ran a hand through the boys curls. "I'm never going to leave you again."
"Promise?" Jaylen asked
"I promise."
After what seemed like forever Jasper finally put Jaylen down and gave Alice another kiss before watching them walk away.
Renesmee tugged on her uncle's hand and he bent down and picked her up.
"Uncle Jazz is Alice your girlfriend?" she asked.
Jasper nodded. "And Jaylen is my son."
"So he's my cousin?"
"Yep."
Renesmee frowned. "That's too bad, he's cute."
Jasper laughed.. "Want to go get some ice-cream?"
"Are you my favorite uncle?"
"Are you my favorite niece?" Jasper retorted.
