Izaya, in very short terms, is a manipulative bastard. He loves all humans and as such loves nothing more than to mess and screw with them. That being said, it’s the reactions and very foundation of people that he’s really interested in. Whether he screws up or almost destroys another’s life doesn’t really matter much to him.
He makes it a habit to not get close to people. He loves humans but “chooses” not to get involved with them and probably for good reason. One, those that really know him are only in it for the money and he's usually in it for the lulz. Two, he has a lot of enemies which is a huge understatement. And three, he simply just doesn’t care to. He really doesn’t. He may act familiar with someone by giving them nicknames or talking to them like they are bff’s but he really doesn’t care too much for them. They are either amusing, resources he uses or an irritation that he wants to get rid of like Shizuo, the one human he wishes would just drop dead more than anything.
Because of his observational skills, he is a smooth talker. He knows just what to say to certain people to make them tick or get a reaction out of them and move the way he wants them too. Of course, this also makes him a good liar as well. Whether it’s online in chatrooms or in person, he makes it a habit to never reveal anything important or something that might give himself away unless it’ll serve his own purpose. It’s this that he uses to his advantage as he manipulates people before they even realize his true intentions.
With all this, he plays by his rules, and only by his rules. Everyone is a piece in his own version of a game that only he knows. He prefers to sit back and watch the chaos unfold but he does sometimes put himself on the board if needed. He is an informant after all, what’s the point if he can’t sometimes nudge people in the “right” direction. If there’s one thing he hates though, is when people try to switch up the game to their own rules. Don’t get him wrong, he enjoys the challenge that people present by trying to win or change up his game, it made things interesting. It’s when he is playing right into someone else’s hand that irritates him and turns quickly into a love-hate relationship. It represents the reason why he loves humans, their nature and actions, but also how they sometimes never act the way he imagines, Shizuo being one of those people constantly.
Despite his nature and love of screwing with people, he himself is actually afraid of death, not so much the dying part though, it’s the “what comes after” part. He believes that there’s nothing afterwards but nonexistence, which he doesn’t really like. It’s part of the main reason why he wants to create Ragnarok actually. At least then, he exists in someway.
[Specialties/Abilities] Izaya himself has no real special abilities unless you count his ability to screw with people. He can fight, dodge, and use a knife like no ones business. He’s really sharp when it comes to picking people apart if that counts. Probably the ability to piss of people like Shizuo just by existing too.
[Affection] LOL Why you would want to- ANYWAY, he doesn't really do "affection" like the feeling since he doesn't get attached to people as a whole. He loves humans and sure maybe physically but meh
