I'm a Snily fan, too, but I'm also a SS/HG shipper. I think they can coexist in Sev's life. Lily was his first and dear love, and eventually, a man can love two women in his life. One don't have to be a replacement of the other. Lily is dead, and although Sev is dead, too, I'd feel too bad to simply leave him so. Resurrecting Snape is easy enough not to try, and then Hermione is alive, so...
I guess I feel like Snape is slightly different in each pairing, and it's weird to see either discounted. I dunno, you do make a good point, but something about Hermione after Lily is difficult for me to grasp. I love SSHG -- but when Lily is in the equation... I'm stubborn, ha ha.

idk i'm ok with ss/hg fics that comply with canon. *shrug* have you tried reading Sage by lady_rhian? it is a VERY good fic where ss/hg works within the context of canon IMO

I guess I just find it hard to discount the love Snape had for Lily with DH-compliant SSHG... For each pairing, Snape is a little bit different in my view, and combining the two is just bizarre IMO. As for Snape's death, I think it's fair to take it either way. Although we all know that JKR intended him to die, permanently. For sure. And I'm all for discounting canon -- how else would I be an SSHG supporter anyway?? XP It's combining the fantasy of Hermione with the stark reality of Lily that grates on me. Like, especially Hermione after Lily. I can't see him getting over her.
