BOFBAB :: 04
David leaned against the suite window and gaped down at the field as it slowly filled with people. After the game ended a while ago and spectators were slowly coming back into the stadium for the fireworks set to go off later on tonight. The game had been pretty good, a completely sold out game. I suppose that can be expected though; America's favorite pastime and America's day of independence kind of go hand-in-hand.
I walked over and stood next to him, watching all of the people on the field. Turning my head, I watched as he looked down on the rest of the crowd but didn't seem to notice me and I couldn't help but look at his eye. There was the lump I'd seen growing last night just over his eyebrow, it was more of a wide and flat bump than so much for how much it protruded, and just on the side where his eye met his nose was bruised a dark shade of purple. I replayed my short examination of him last night over in my head and couldn't help but feel bad; I honestly didn't think it would bruise so much, nor did I realized the ball had hit him so full-on.
"Do you want to go down now?" I snapped my head at his voice, not having expected him to speak.
Looking him over, I nodded. "Yeah," my voice cracked; I haven't actually said much in a bit, "Do me a favor though and get some more ice from the bar first?"
He laughed and shook his head, "I swear, my eye is fine; why do you keep insisting about it?"
"I feel guilty!" I said in an exasperated voice. "I mean, geeze, it's my fault you have that lump over your eye," I said and lifted my hand to point out said lump.
David smiled and laughed, tilting his head down. It was a large, amused smile that made the corners of his eyes wrinkle; I swear, I don't understand how he doesn't feel that at all. "Let's just go, c'mon."
I sighed and walked after him as he left the suite, walking past the personal bar. There was no bartender and the cabinets had been locked up considering the family that had the suite went down to the field some time before. As we walked down the hall, I saw only a few more people still looking at the paintings of old players on the walls. When we got to the elevator, there were already several people on it. Although there was plenty of room for the two of us, we stayed put to wait for the next round. Neither of us ever liked sharing an elevator.
Once an empty box opened we got on and stood against the walls. The elevator took us down to the ground level and when the doors opened, two little kids ran past us and we had to back up to avoid getting hit. We walked along the ground floor, down a bit until we neared the stands of the outfield and made our way down to the field from there. Other people already littered the field and I stepped ahead to avoid another pair of running children. I watched them race along the third base line and noted that they were about seven years old. Funny. I don't think I care much for seven-year-olds either.
"Sebastien!" I turned around after hearing David call me and saw him just in time to brace myself when he ran into me. I fell back and flipped him over, following with my body in an attempt to pin him. The last time I think we actually wrestled couldn't have been less than a year ago and even with my build being slightly larger than his, I still had just as hard a time as I ever did when it came to pinning him. I finally caught him off guard enough to get my knee against his chest and my hands holding down his wrists. David tried to lift himself, not getting much more of his head up before he sighed and relaxed his muscles.
"Okay," he coughed. "You win."
I slid off of him and sat back on the grass, crossing my legs and folding my hands. "You're kind of weak," I laughed.
He glared at me with a smirk. "Yeah, well, I blame the bruise on my eye." He stuck out his tongue as I pouted.
My reaction was half teasing but I really did feel bad. True, I know he was probably just kidding but I couldn't help the responsible feeling.
"Don't give me that," he slapped my leg and my head jolted up; "I know you didn't mean it. It's fine, I swear."
I sighed and we settled off into small conversation as we waited for it to get darker out. Another couple of minutes and it should be dark enough to start the fireworks. I looked around and my eyes lingered on a familiar-looking figure walking in our direction. As the figure came closer I sat up straighter at realizing who it was and I unfolded my legs.
David sat picking at a blade of grass and did not notice who was walking up behind him, soon standing still there. I looked up and nodded my acknowledgement, searching for my voice.
"Hi, John."
David heard me and sat up, turning around slowly to look up at John standing there.
The man smiled at me and tipped his head, covered by a Phillies cap, "Hello, Sebastien." His calm tone shocked me a little but I tried my best not to let it show. They can smell fear. Wait... that's dogs. He looked down at David and up-nodded his head to acknowledge him. "Going for another late night?"
I watched David shake his head while keeping eye contact with John as he responded quietly. "No, Sir."
John smiled and looked back at me. "Sorry, Sebastien but, seeing as how he was out so late last night and we let him come out today, I'm afraid David is going to have to miss the fireworks tonight."
I nodded calmly to show I understood but inside I could feel my heart sink. The fireworks hadn't even started yet and I didn't want David to leave. I got the feeling John didn't exactly want me walking with them as I went home as well. It's not as though I wanted to leave either; I did want to stay for the show.
David stood up and I did as well, patting him on the back after I said goodbye. I felt a little awkward as I just stood there and watched David and John walk away; taking in the idea that I'd either be watching the 4th of July fireworks or walking home by myself. Quite possibly both. Two more kids ran past me and I watched them go across the field. They looked about six years old. Okay, I'm at a baseball field, why don't I have a bat?
"Your boyfriend gone for the night?"
I snapped myself around to look at whoever was trying to get my attention. There was a boy standing no more than two feet away, he was somewhat tall and slumped over a little so he'd be closer to my height. Aside from the eye contact he made, the slouching proved it clear he'd been addressing me.
Before deciding whether or not to speak to him, I looked the kid up and down. He was tall, tanned, built; not a bad body at all. Not wanting to get taken with that I looked up to his face and that's pretty much where I froze. His dark hair was messy and long, down past his eyes and completely falling in front of one of them. My sight lingered on his lip ring before I even remembered that he asked me a question.
I blinked, "Uh, n-no," I laughed and looked down shyly, "he's not even gay."
He nodded and flicked his tongue over his lip ring, "Oh, I see." His hands slipped behind him, I think he had his thumbs hooked over his back pockets. His hair falling into his eyes when his head tilted down caught me and something caused me to stall. I couldn't get over how amazing this kid looked. His own body language might suggest that he's as nervous as I feel at this point which just might happen to be a good thing if he's - wait.
"H-How did you know I was...?" My voice trailed off after he picked up his head to look at me when I spoke.
He bit his lip, the right side where there wasn't a lip ring and I could have sworn my eyes bugged out. This kid is fucking gorgeous. "Call it gay-dar?"
Hallelujah.
"Oh," I couldn't stop myself from grinning. Beautiful gay boy standing extremely close to me. What's more: he looks as nervous as I feel, which can only make me think he's taken an interest to me. Holy shit, I can pray.
We looked at each other for a second before he cleared his throat and stuck out his hand. "I'm Kai."
I smiled and might have giggled. I hope I didn't giggle. I hope it was just a really weak laugh because there's not a chance I'd want to giggle in front of this kid.
"I'm Sebastien," I said and shook his hand. His fingers are calloused. Probably plays guitar. A musician. Hot.
He smiled and laughed, adjusting his standing and making it so he was just a little closer to me. "You don't hear that name often."
I laughed, "I don't hear 'Kai' much, either."
He laughed and looked down, making his hair fall into his eyes again. Fuck, that's hot too. I heard a sudden popping sound and turned my head to where it'd come from and watched a streamer fly up and burst in the air. My mouth tugged into a smile at seeing the fireworks and then felt another small tugging on my arm. I turned my head and saw the handsome musician with his hand on my arm. Will not lose it. Staying calm. Will not scare away the pretty, nice, gorgeous boy who seems to like me.
I smiled and followed him off to the side of the field where we walked along the wall and leaned back near the fence.

We watched the fireworks and talked for a while, eventually sliding down the wall and sat on the grass. Turns out, Kai's been to the last three games because he came to New Jersey to visit his friend Chris; who is here somewhere but no where to be found. Another thing I found out would be that they're going back to Southern Jersey tomorrow and that they stayed for tonight because it was Independence Day. Alright. That is unfair.
Aside from that, he is nineteen, not from New Jersey but I kind of looked at his lip ring when he said where he was from so I missed that part. And I was right, he's a musician. Bass guitar. Again: hot. Why did he have to go back tomorrow? I looked up to watch a few more of the fireworks go off until I got the feeling he was looking at me. But I'm not sure. If he isn't looking at me I don't want to look at him because that would kind of suck. I think.
Shit.
He just put his hand on mine. It's just kind of sitting there now. If I move my hand at all he's probably just going to pull his away. Well, since it's already sitting there I guess it's safe to say I could turn my head. If, for any reason, because he's got his hand sitting on mine so I suppose that would suggest a good reason for looking at him.
I looked over at him and, I was right, he was looking at me. He smiled and laughed nervously, that only made me laugh too. He looked down and his hair fell so he lifted his hand and pushed it back. His bags fell again but were bent so they looked shorter, around the length of David's hair. Then after he looked back up at me again, he bit his lip, the left side this time and sucked in his lip ring. Wow, he looks like David.
My eyes widened when he sucked in his lip ring, I know they did and I couldn't help staring when he stopped biting and I saw the lip ring again. I stared and it got bigger, closer until I realized it was because he'd been leaning over to kiss me; and he did, too. He kissed me, or, I kissed him, or, fuck it, we kissed each other. He kisses better than he looks and that's saying something right there.
We didn't do much more talking after that point; pretty much stuck to kissing until his friend Chris found him and announced that they had to leave. Nothing bad about the kissing at all though; I couldn't get enough of that lip ring - I'd never actually thought about what difference they could make. Having Chris come back, however unwanted, did make me realize how late it'd gotten and that they weren't the only ones needing to leave. We got up and walked together, out the gate near the Seventh Street parking lot until we had to turn in opposite directions.
Although the thought crossed my mind a few times through the night, I never did mention to Kai my ability to get into the park without a ticket.

Hi, kids. Bad news. Kind of. I'm going to be leaving this Monday (July 19) for a family vacation and I'm not due back until that Thursday (22) or Friday (23). It is not fun, I would much rather be here than on a family vacation. After that, I should be gone that Friday for a party at the beach with some friends on Saturday (24).
Anyhow, seeing as how that leaves me without internet access, or access to a computer for that matter, I will not be able to update or read or leave any of my reviews I know that you all love to get. If you're desperate or feel like un-boring me at all, you can find my cell number to text me on my
GreatestJournal layout :P Chances are, I'll answer you if you tell me who you are ;)
I will miss you all and promise to take a day out of my time when I do get back to read all of the updates and I will review as much as possible.
I love you all dearly, especially those of you who leave reviews.
