today was my first day of a Writing on Social Issues seminar. it appears that right now is not the best time in my life to be taking this course. i should be championing my instructor for committing her time and career to being a successful journalist, teaching students, etc. instead, i asked (paraphrased) ... so i know you really feel passionate ( Read more... )

I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough time. I've seen it happen to a lot of people when they first move away from where they did undergrad, myself included. So don't be too hard on yourself. Hopefully with a little bit of time you'll get yourself situated better and figure some of it out. It took me about a year to get to that point.

I clicked on your location ("Tarry 2"), which brings up a google map. I was momentarily quite confused when it showed a location in Orinda CA. A quick search then confirmed my suspicion that Terry is a building at Northwestern.

thanks for the vote of confidence. i vaguely remember these difficulties in freshman undergrad years, but it seems a bit worse after 6 years of learning to be independent in a kind of unique place like the bay. there are a lot of really good things too like my living situation and my classmates truly are a good bunch.

i hang out with your fred from time to time. he is really fun and a welcome relief from med school chatter. boy howdy do i know more about microphones :).
