All anyone seems to talk about on these things nowadays is partying. How hung over they are, how many drugs they did...I mean, not that Im against it at all, I respect what people want to do to themselves, and I realize that Im like the only person in college at the moment that doesn't partake in all that crap, so if I hated everyone that did it I ( Read more... )

then i really dont think you have a right to judge or be condescending about it. Honestly, this entry starts out saying you respect people's choices but the whole tone of it conveys something entirely different.

You know, I drink, and I don't feel like she's being condescending to me, or judging me. She's made a decision (probably the more adult one), and she's stating why. About her needing to try it to give an opinion, that's a load of shit. I don't need to get into a car crash to know it's going to hurt. It's a fact. I haven't touched drugs/alcohol since I've come to college. It's not so bad, and it's not hard to avoid it, even though I live in a co-op haha. I don't know if you have read the recent articles about one Berkeley co-op (Cloyne Court) in which cookies with excessive marijuana content were baked, and people were sent to the hospital, and one dude was found dead. This has all given the co-ops a terrible reputation that isn't deserved. For that reason I support drug leniency especially in Berkeley. To be honest it's almost part of the college culture. These kids aren't getting any dumber as a result of it.

If you ever need anyone to hang out with sans drugs please give me a call! Sorry I couldn't make it last time!

Right on Steph. I agree with Dave and also didn't see anything condescending about it.

I also hear ya 'cause it seems like some kids go way too crazy with the freedom, and I can't understand it at all. I see kids who party all the time and have lost motivation/interest in school, and for me it's just like "OMFGGGGGG you worked so fucking hard to get to this great university.. and that's what you do with it. not to mention your parents' hard-earned money."

seriously, congrats on getting the biggest livejournal comments/discussion on my friends page for months. no one has been brave enough to state their opinions like so. which i definitely respect and think that is awesome.
