Commissions

I just have a question!

Deeming that you may know a little about my artwork over the years and style. If you were going to commission me to do let's say traditional or digital.

How much would you pay? Or let's just say how much do you think my work is worth?

I'm trying to get a bit of an opinion, so I can sort my commission pricing out. I've only ( Read more... )

Hmm one thing I can offer as advice(something I've learned through my "research" for selling artist alley work) is that your pricing should be based on the amount of money you spend on tools for art as well as your time. Like if you were exclusively a copic marker artist and we all know those dang things are 3 bucks(and more) a pop, that will have some bearing on your price. Same goes if you do a lot of traditional lineart and use fancy sakura micron pens or something else.

Now for you, I'd say your most detailed(like with some kind of drawn out/painted bg, digital lineart/textures and everything) should be in the 12-15+ dollar range and maybe charge more for more than 2 characters. Good luck :D!

Base it off the time it takes you to complete a work and, as the other poster mentioned, materials. Minimum wage in the US is 7.25 but for that rate we're talking about doing absolute grunt work and barely skilled so take your experience into account.

Although I really dislike timing myself (hassle), selling a particular type of work for a set price may or may not prove to be cost effective or worth the effort put in. Don't sell yourself short, etc.

Hmm yeah and timing i guess can be hard if you in an environment where you cant necessarily get it done in one sitting. I am certainly going to keep this in mind! Thanks Bri ♥

I guess like they said and base it off of what time it takes you to do the work and the materials you use.
But also take into account a poor persons' salary. I mean I get that materials cost a bunch of money and all and I love your art and I wish I could buy a bunch but I see others that I like and I can't afford a $50 painting, ya know? Maybe draw something that is pretty yet simple so that someone can buy a black and white drawing...? I dunno ... sorry. I hope that helped.
