While Alex's maternal grandparents were visiting in May, we noticed that whenever we played the music on his crib toys, he'd start kicking and waving his arms. We dubbed it "wiggle time" and we tried to make sure that he got at least a little bit every day, though some days he would even gladly wiggle for an hour or more at a time. When my son was his age, he especially liked old swing stuff - big bands, like Count Basie's "One O'Clock Jump," Duke Ellington's "Rockin' In Rhythm," and Glenn Miller's "Chattanooga Choo Choo."

Great idea! And I happen to have a lot of big band stuff lying around the house. :) (My grandfather got me hooked on it.)

That's a good grandpa! :) Mine wasn't into music at all; only if he had a shot of vodka for a national holiday (and he always only had one;-)), he would mumble the old Russian folk song "The reeds were making noise and the trees were bending, as the night was stormy" :)))

My grandfather had an enormous music collection. (A lot of movies, too.) Cassettes (and then later, CDs) were what he seemed to spend most of his pension on. :) He also would record concerts from TV onto cassettes and he'd make me copies of anything I wanted.
