"Ahh, what the hell? This woman's gotta be the most screwed up one among us all." ~ words of a white suit gang member
A beautiful woman from Chicago with a quiet voice and a serene, peaceful aura about her. A bit of an odd match with the big, loud and aggressive mafia hitman that she's constantly seen with. However, Ladd and Lua insist that they're in love.
Lua is Ladd's fiancee, and the person he loves the most in the world - by that measure, he also wants to kill her more than anyone in the entire world. However, Lua, seemingly suicidal, is more than willing to be killed by Ladd, and therefore, he doesn't want to do it. At least not yet. Ladd promises to Lua that when he's killed everybody else in the world, he'll come to Lua, marry her, and then kill her so slowly that it will take her entire life before she dies. And talk like that makes her blush and sigh his name. Their romance is... unique.
However, there's little doubt that Ladd really does care for Lua, and that her life means more to him than his own; he nearly died to save her life by jumping from a moving train and catching her midair. Ladd must be the one who kills Lua - the thought of something else killing her is alarming enough for him to leap into mortal peril. He spends a good deal of time trying to keep her safe, which can be somewhat difficult, considering she seems just as willing to jump into danger to protect him.
In Nautilus, they live together in Manhattan, where his protective nature has only been amplified. Although Nautilus reunited the separated couple (Ladd had been in prison for some time beforehand), it also thrust them both into a city filled with dangerous people, least of all Claire Stanfield, who was the one who tried to kill her on the train in the first place. When Ladd was on the run for his string of murders, it was Lua's safety he was most concerned about, not his own. And after spending time in the Nautilus prison thinking, he realized another thing: he's no longer able to kill Lua in Nautilus. Although Lua says that she'll stay with him in even so, it bugs him... and drives him to learn how to Unmake people even more.

Relationship: Girlfriend / Fiancee
"Sorry to disappoint! But I promise that I'll make it up to you in the future, sweetheart. Nautilus is full of things to do, things to see, people to smash up and disembowel and massacre however I want - it'll be a good show, Lua! And when I'm done, I'll come for you and save the best for last."

"A sneaky thief and a sneaky thief! What are we, some kind of sneaky thief family?" ~ words of graham specter
Ladd originally met crazy mechanic Graham on a job, where they proceeded to try and bash each other's brains in in the loudest, hammiest way you can imagine. Ladd was the victor by virtue of being an extremely hardy meatshield. However, when Graham told Ladd to go ahead and kill him, Ladd denied his wishes - firstly because Ladd doesn't kill people who want to die, and secondly because Graham was totally insane. And Ladd liked that about him.
Since then, Graham has seemed to idolize Ladd, calling him "Boss," a behavior Ladd doesn't do anything to stop. Since Ladd lived in Chicago and Graham lived in New York, originally, they didn't see each other too often, but upon Ladd's arrival in Nautilus, the two of them have spent much more time together. At the beginning, Ladd mostly just thought of Graham as another crazy guy who happened to be weirdly smitten with him (which was useful when he needed backup), but he eventually grew to think of Graham as an actual friend. He treats him kind of like a little brother, giving him "advice" (coming from Ladd, its validity might be questionable) and, more often than not, affectionately(?) teasing him.
Other than Lua, Graham is the only person Ladd really trusts in Nautilus, and similarly to Lua, Ladd wants to be the one that kills Graham. Graham's already died once in Nautilus, which Ladd's not too happy about. From that, you can gather that Ladd does actually care about Graham in some weird way.

"Hahahaha!! Pal, if I could ever guess what you were gonna do, I would've killed you two years ago back at that time we first met and saved a lot of effort!"

"Pity and compassion are privileges reserved for the strong. And I am strong!" ~ words of claire stanfield
A wild-card assassin who believes that he is the only true person in the world, and that everything else is a figment of his imagination that he dreamed up to keep him company - basically, he sees himself as God. He absolutely believes that he can't die, because then the rest of the world goes with him. And that pisses Ladd off.
On top of that, Claire shot Ladd (and landed the hit), evaded all his attacks with a flourish, interrupted his fight with Chane, and most importantly, tried to kill Lua and made Ladd jump off the Pussyfoot to save her. Ladd absolutely despises Claire. At the same time, Claire's attitude makes Ladd want to slaughter him brutally, making Claire a rare exception to Ladd's usual killing equals love rule. OR SO IT SEEMS...
Ladd lost to Claire in Nautilus and was killed by him. Since then, he's backed off somewhat, realizing he can't win - and even if he did kill Claire, that Claire would come right back. Now he's trying to think of a new way to pin down his godmoding enemy. That Unmaking thing sure sounds interesting...
MAI WAI-- MAI NEMESIS
Relationship: Mortal Enemy
"You don't know anything about life and death! That's what I'm sayin', you know... Although explaining is pointless for someone like you, who could never understand. That's why I gotta kill you as fast as I can -- well, other than that you just piss me off real bad!"
morte_e_vita [Baccano!]
"Sorry, but I’m not so nice as to let you quietly stab me to death." ~ words of firo prochainezo
Firo is a young, up-and-coming Camorrista in Manhattan's Martillo family. He's also immortal.
Ladd first met him in Nautilus, although, unbeknownst to him, he's also destined to meet Firo in Alcatraz back home. While Firo's cocky and spunky attitude at first grabbed Ladd's interest, as well as his being a fellow gangster, certain events on Valentine's Day soured Ladd's impression of him. Firo was one of Ladd's victims during his murder spree, but, being immortal, didn't make a big fuss about it. Ladd's still not aware he's immortal yet. The two now have a somewhat terse relationship, with Ladd often suspicious that Firo has designs on Lua.
Guy Who Slept In Mai Waifu's Bed
Relationship: Thinly-Veiled Dislike
"You know, for a gang member, you seem pretty laid-back... Most other guys I meet are always dancin' around and actin' all tough. I wonder why you're different, huh?"
mutedsecrets [Baccano!]
"Huh? I thought you were just a lady, but you've got something interesting there. Isn't that knife a bit too big for a lady, though?" ~ words of graham specter
The mute, anti-social, knife-wielding daughter of one of the original immortal alchemists aboard the Advena Avis. Ladd originally engaged in a fight with her on top of the Flying Pussyfoot for no reason other than that she stood in his way and drew her weapons at him, which he took as an invitation for a brawl, being pretty high on his bloodlust. Ladd was surprised and charmed to find they fought on even footing.
As usual, love and hate are heavily mixed up in Ladd's view on Chane. He does like her, since her fighting skills are top-notch and she's quite ready to die, not to mention she's a very pretty lady. However, he also takes a great deal of pleasure in pissing her off and making her uncomfortable; because she can't talk back, he can say whatever he wants with no argument awaiting him other than an attack, which he thinks is awesome. Furthermore, he's learned in Nautilus that she's apparently in a relationship with Claire. Which both irritates him and provides great leverage for him to attack from! While he's not too keen on killing Chane, he does find her very entertaining, and is enthralled by the prospect of killing her beloved and 'immortal' father, Huey, in her place.

agentminiskirt [Parasite Eve]
"I know you want to live... After all, you've just been born. But I want to live, too, just like every human being!" ~ words of aya brea
A policewoman that Ladd encountered in Nautilus. Having already known Graham somewhat, she and Ladd became introduced quickly. Her straight-laced and snarky personality (unusual traits for a woman to a guy from the 30s) struck him as exciting right away, and thus, he rather enjoyed spending time with her. Ladd also picked up pretty quickly on Graham's attraction to Aya - not that it wasn't kind of really obvious in the first place. The three of them became somewhat unstable friends (it was more like exposure for poor Aya), even going out and having a drink together. Ladd's interest in her became something along the lines of respect, which, naturally for him, corresponded with an increasing desire to kill her. But since Graham had a thing for her, he put it on the backburner - Ladd's a bit of a romantic.
This all got turned on its head pretty quickly when Ladd decided to go on a murderous rampage throughout Nautilus. Although Aya Brea was not a victim, she quickly got on the case, and while simultaneously trying to deal with rioting over a law system being put in place, she managed to track down Ladd, who was hiding out from all the people screaming for his head. At this point, Ladd had realized that not only did people truly not die in Nautilus (it only sunk in once he'd managed to kill a few), but that for once in his life, he was outmatched - all the people with strange powers made him a weakling in Nautilus. Therefore, when Aya showed up, he was happy, thinking he'd get a real fight on even footing. Then she used her mitochondria powers - something Ladd had no inkling of - to heal herself, sucking Ladd's energy to do so until he fell unconscious. After that, she kept him in custody for a bit, then threw him in prison.
Ladd probably realized at the time that being put in prison was actually something of a protective measure; nobody could come and revenge-kill him. However, once he got out, it was hard to overlook the fact that Aya had stuck him in prison for what felt like years from his perspective. His newfound knowledge that she was somehow superhuman also soured his previous impression of her. Nowadays, while still acting "friendly," he tends to take potshots at her and accuse her of being a monster whenever he can. Their relationship's a little tense, to say the least.
Killjoy Police Monster Lady
Relationship: Friend / Enemy. ( it's tense. )
"It seems like monsters are pretty hard to kill no matter what kind they are. Guess that's what makes 'em monsters in the first place, huh? But it's okay; there's room in my heart for them, too."
edgey_remarks [Ace Attorney]
"Our job is to find truth, no matter how painful it may be." ~ words of miles edgeworth
An uptight prosecuting attorney. Ladd originally met him after killing a dinosaur (seriously), a meeting in which he kind of freaked poor Edgey out. Ladd's immediate impression was that of a guy who tried to be really serious, but Ladd also thought he seemed kind of cowardly. Nonetheless, he didn't take too much note of the guy - there were more interesting people running around in Nautilus. Nor did he kill him, fortunately for Edgeworth. He did pop up every once in a while to give Edgeworth a hard time, but other than that, didn't pay attention to him.
Things only got dicey between the two of them when Edgeworth not only revealed he was a lawyer, but decided to start setting up a justice system, which Ladd strongly disapproved of - hey, he's a mafia man, and a psycho killer. During his murder spree, he tried and almost got away with strangling Edgeworth to death, but was interrupted by an unexpected third party, Allen Walker. Upon his escape, Edgeworth announced that Ladd had assaulted him, setting everyone in the city on his tail.
Ever since then, Ladd's been understandably irritated with Edgeworth - mostly for Edgey wriggling out of his grip. Ladd definitely wants to kill him.
Lawyer With Death Wish
Relationship: Enemy
"You want to protect the good, kind, wise people of this wonderful, balled-up city! Is it so wrong to wanna set up a system of boundaries in a city with no boundaries? Puttin' in rules in a city of freedom, no, what could ever be wrong with that?"
lady_adventure [Tomb Raider]
"I don't count poison darts and triggered entombment to be your average child's tea party." ~ words of lara croft
Tomb-raiding Lara Croft has expressed disgust and dislike for Ladd ever since she first met him, ordering him not to kill anyone or else she'll have something to say about it. A reasonable reaction. Of course, Ladd didn't pay it any attention, and instead laughed at her for throwing her weight around like that, promising to kill her, too.
And, of course, he made good on that promise, killing her during his murder spree! Which was a lot of fun for Ladd, but not so much for Lara. She's got her heart set on killing him in revenge, which Ladd... again, has laughed off. His relationship towards her hasn't changed a bit since he killed her - he still teases her and doesn't take her seriously at all. This only feeds her FIRES OF RAGE. Ladd being who he is, even though he finds her righteousness kind of annoying, actually does like her. And Ladd's feelings here are definitely one-sided.
Angry British Dame Out For Ladd's Blood
Relationship: Acquaintance / Enemy
"A man's heart is a delicate thing, you know, Lara... Hahahaha! "
freakyfive [Yume Nikki]
"..." ~ words of the entire yume nikki game
An extremely strange, monotone-colored little girl(?) who occasionally has five arms and occasionally has the normal amount. She seems to be quite attached to Graham, which amuses him, but her behavior is, in general, so detached and weird that Ladd has a hard time deciding what to do with her at all. Ladd basically killed her during the war in Kalliste, but she shook it off and barely even realized what had happened, holding nothing against him. So Ladd decided to let it go - if she's that okay with dying, he's not that concerned with killing her. She seems to like him a lot since Graham likes him a lot, which is almost endearing, except he doesn't like kids all that much.

"I thought for sure that'd kill you. Ah, what a shame... but I guess that's just how Nautilus works. Messin' up all my hard work. Really annoying sometimes...! Hey, I'll try again another day."
cheerfulcrazy [Discworld]
"It's pronounced Teh-ah-tim-eh!" ~ words of jonathan teatime
An assassin who claims to be from a disc-shaped world with wizards on it. This guy seems oddly similar to Ladd, due to his cheerful, talkative personality and his enormous love for killing other people. The two seemed to get along pretty well, although their conversations were absolutely dripping with thinly-veiled insanity. And a desire to kill things and/or each other. Kind of scary, actually.
Ladd met up with him on his little killing spree, and they ended up (happily) fighting each other to the death. Ladd was the winner. However, due to Teatime's passive attitude about getting killed, and his bright, crazy personality, which was similar to his own, Ladd spared Teatime's life, deciding to kill him another day.
Naturally, absolutely nothing has changed between them since then. They're on friendly terms, even.

"You seem very enthusiastic about the whole thing, Mr Russo, if I may say so - is this a regular occurrence?"
"That'd depend on how many bodies are around, so I can safely say that it's not regular enough. At least not in this city. Shame."
hellbornhuntrss [Hellsing]
"Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor - my bullet punishes all without distinction." ~ words of rip van winkle
Let's list off the things that make Rip interesting to Ladd: female, German, vampire, soldier, from the future. Jeez. They met originally in prison, where Ladd had been incarcerated by Aya for killing a bunch of Wakened, and Rip had incarcerated herself for accidentally torturing Wally West. Ladd's attitude had been taken down a notch for the time being, thanks to being captured and stuck into a jail cell - he just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. That made it easier for Rip to tolerate him, and they ended up getting along in a surprisingly friendly manner. Fortunate, since their cells were right across from each other.
Like most of the women (and some of the men, too) he meets in Nautilus, he enjoys teasing her. At the same time, Rip's great sniping talent earns her some admiration from Ladd, and her aforementioned 'weird qualities' interest him. He'd very much like to try killing her in the future. What a nice guy.

endallwars [Eternal Darkness]
"---" ~ ---
Ladd actually didn't know Peter at all until recently. Edgeworth escaped death at Ladd's hands thanks to the timely interruption of one Allen Walker; however, Allen paid for Edgeworth's life with his own. Peter, who was Allen's friend, was none-too-thrilled by that, and coldly threatened Ladd once the latter was out of jail. As usual, Ladd didn't take it seriously; he's a hitman, dude, he's been threatened loads of times.
Of course, Ladd didn't know that Peter had a pet Trapper. The two had a chance meeting in Manhattan, and Peter loosed his little friend on Ladd, which sent our mafia friend to the Trapper Dimension, a kind of alternate world, where Ladd was stuck for about ten minutes before he solved the puzzle and escaped. And, naturally, upon his escape, he immediately tried to kill Peter - only to find that Peter wanted to die, which killed Ladd's boner destroyed Ladd's desire to kill him. So he just kicked Peter in the ribs and left instead. Totally ruined his day.
