weird roommate interaction...

so i had a really weird exchange with katie today. she, colin and i were sitting in the living room watching a show. i mentioned that i was thinking about going down the street and getting some frozen yogurt. katie says to colin: "yeah colin, you should go get us some yogurt" im assuming she meant yogurt for colin and her. so colin points out that

Unfortunately that's what happens with friends and money. They get weird!

it was just weird because it was kind of out of left field and i wasnt expecting it at all. now im worried stuff is going to be all weird around here.

I think technically if you're not on the lease you may not have a complete set of "renters rights." I think it could definitely get messy though if it came down to it. Always seems to be a bit tough when mixing friends (or family even) and money.

I think the only time when I had almost no conflicts with roommates was when we sat down as a group (all 6 of us!) and set up rules and schedules for cleaning so that we all had something to fall back on. After that, there was always a "oh, uh, um, maybe you could take out your trash?" or something like that.
