Ohno sat beside his lover and looked into his brown eyes deeply. He didn’t like his decision but couldn’t change it as well. He loved Nino and wanted an easy life with him. He wanted to be the best guy in the world for Nino and make Nino never regret being with him. He had to make sure for so many times in his head that he did it for Nino and he had to postpone all the things that he had planned with his lover. Nino looked at him, a warm smile plastered on his face.

“Is it really okay?” Ohno asked while caressing the younger man’s cheek slowly, tried to show that this decision was hard for him as well.

“Unn… I’m okay with it,” Nino said as he held Ohno’s hand and hugged his lover tight. “Your happiness is mine as well.”

“Are you sure you’re okay to postpone our wedding?” he asked while stroking Nino’s back tenderly.

Nino smiled although he knew the older won’t see it. “I remembered your promise when we were at university. You won’t get married until you hold your own exhibition, right? So I’ll be waiting patiently until that time comes.”

He snuggled closer to his lover while Ohno whispered in his ear, “Thank you…I love you, Kazu…”

Ohno woke up suddenly, the clock still pointing at 3 AM. He could feel his own cold sweat. Maybe because it’s not my room, Ohno thought as he looked around and found that he was in Jun’s room, alone.

“That dream again…,” Ohno sighed deeply. He wiped the sweat on his forehead and took the glass of water on a table beside his bed. He drank it slowly to calm himself down and the effect made him feel better.

He massaged his forehead slowly. “I shouldn’t have told you about that promise, I couldn’t keep it. You shouldn’t be waiting for me. I’m the worst man ever, Kazu…”

Ohno lay on Jun’s bed once again, “… I’m sorry…,” he murmured then closed his eyes, trying to have a nice sleep.

Ohno yawned lazily. Actually, he’s not really bothered being alone this time. He was always alone since Nino was busy with his promotion tour but it’s the first time Ohno wasn’t able to find Nino’s fragrance around him. It’s Matsumoto apartment after all. Usually when he wakes up in the morning, he could at least see Nino on his own bed, sleeping peacefully. Although he kept to himself, at least he knew that Nino was there somewhere in the room.

There was nothing special in Jun’s apartment. It just looked elegant yet cozy. There’re a lot of books on the bookshelf but Ohno couldn’t understand what the books are. Then he walked into the living room, there’s a grand piano near the balcony. Ohno tried to play a note and it produced a clear yet beautiful sound even though he didn’t really understand music. It was similar with Kazu’s...

Ohno was wandering around the apartment. He was actually curious about Matsumoto Jun. He thought that it was weird, a handsome young man, with a good job like him is single until now. He found a blank picture frame on the coffee table. He placed back that frame and took a look at the clock.

“8 AM. It’s time to go to the bakery,” Ohno scratched his head and yawned as he stepped out of Jun’s room.

This was his activity: he woke up early, went to the bakery and bought some bread for Nino’s breakfast before going to work. But today, he didn’t need to buy anything for Nino although he was still wondering what Nino ate for breakfast. Feeling Nino’s absence didn’t make his feelings better. He started missing Nino’s presence even though he acted cold with him lately. He has his own reasons and it was because he didn’t want his lover to suffer any longer.

“Thanks for your hard work,” someone greeted Ohno as he pushed a janitor cart.

“Thank you for your hard work as well,” Ohno replied while taking off his cap. This was his job. Ninomiya Kazunari, his lover, was a superstar and he was nothing. He was just a janitor. He walked a bit but his cart bumped into someone.

“I'm sorry, Sir,” Ohno said as a reflex. The man he had bumped into glared at him.

“Are you okay, Matsuyama-san?” someone asked behind the man.

“It's okay,” the guy named Matsuyama smiled to the man behind him and went away, leaving Ohno who was still standing in the same position.

“I’m sorry, but… Have I met you before?” Matsuyama turned to Ohno and asked him.

“I don’t think so, Sir,” Ohno bowed and Matsuyama just nodded before leaving Ohno. His thoughts were wandering to one year ago when Nino was still an ordinary guy, not a super star, just ordinary Nino, his lover. Before Nino started to hide something from him, something that hurt him a lot and he knew that Nino was hurting as well.

Last year, at their former apartment, Nino hugged Ohno tight after coming home from his previous job as a shopkeeper of a music store. Ohno had no idea why his lover was in a good mood that day. He kept grinning at Ohno until the older man asked, “Are you okay?”

“I’m more than okay! Satoshi, I got a job!”

“You do have a job, right?” Ohno asked his lover. Nino grinned as he stole a small peck on Ohno’s lips.

“It’s the greatest one, Satoshi! Someone asked me to have my own single. I’ll debut as a singer, Satoshi!” He held Ohno’s hands and jumped in happiness.

“Eh? How?” It wasn’t like he’s unhappy or that he didn’t believe Nino. Nino was the best singer.

Nino smiled widely and brought Ohno to sit on the sofa. “When I was fine-tuning a grand piano at the shop, someone asked me to play something then I played the song I composed for you.”

“Was it… Niji?” Ohno asked the younger. He liked that song a lot.

Nino nodded. “Yes, I played Niji then that man asked me again whose song was it and I answered that it’s mine. He smiled and said he wanted me to debut. He was actually a producer. I didn’t expect that he’ll like my music.”

“That sounds great. Good luck then, Kazu,” Ohno said as he hugged his lover. Nino chuckled and rests his head on Ohno’s shoulder.

“Ne… Satoshi…,” Nino called softly. “I hope I’ll earn a lot of money then I’ll help you hold your exhibition. After seven years, we can get back your savings for your exhibition.”

“If only I didn’t loss my savings,” Ohno pouted. That was a long story when Ohno just graduated from university. He already saved his money to hold his exhibition but suddenly, one of his friends needed big amount of money. Ohno couldn’t close his eyes and see his friend in that state so he lent his money to his friend but that damn guy ran away and took all of Ohno’s money with him.

“You know it’s not your fault, darling,” Nino kissed the pouting lips. “If I become a famous singer, I will find a sponsor for your exhibition.”

“Then…we can marry after that…” Ohno smiled at Nino.

At that time, Ohno didn’t expect that he had placed Nino in the cruelest world. As he realized the content of Nino’s contract, in which it stated that Nino will be obedient to all of Matsuyama’s words.

Matsuyama’s words… means… well… all. Ohno stared deeply at the figure of Matsuyama. He knew who Matsuyama was. He knew about the man who had made Nino sign an evil contract and he knew Nino’s reason for doing it. His mind flew to three months after Nino signed the contract but Ohno knew as well… he couldn’t stop it, it was too late… even if he wanted to protect Nino… the one he loves with all of his heart….

Nine months ago, Ohno waited for Nino in their dining room. He wasn’t sure if his boyfriend would come home or not but Ohno still waited patiently. He felt really guilty and worried. Nino couldn’t rest properly after he started his debut. He got a lot of jobs and he started to push himself to take all of it. It wasn’t like Nino to tell him all of it but Ohno understood and he knew Nino did it for his exhibition. It was about time when Nino pushed the doorknob.

“I'm home,” Nino murmured as he dragged his feet to enter their apartment.

“Welcome home. You look so tired, Kazu. Did you already have dinner?” Ohno greeted Nino and sat up to give a peck on Nino's lips.

“I already ate, Satoshi. I want to take a bath now,” he smiled but looked really tired.

“Okay, I’ll prepare the water for you,” Ohno stood up, fast.

“You don't need to, Satoshi. I’m too tired to wait,” Nino placed all of his stuff on the dining table. He walked slowly to the bathroom.

“Unn... okay then,” Ohno took his seat again and decided to wait for Nino. All of a sudden, he heard Nino's phone ringing. He saw that there was a name of 'MASTER' on the screen. Master? He wasn’t stupid, that wasn’t a normal name. He didn’t want to doubt his boyfriend but he couldn’t pretend not seeing it.

Since it disturbed Ohno, he decided to cancel the call but before he could do it, a message was left.

“Nino, thanks for today. That was your best service ever. I wonder if I could meet you sooner. Have a good sleep then, you still have a promotional show tomorrow. Bye, sweetie,” and the other ended the call, leaving Ohno dumbfounded.

“What the hell was that,” Ohno cursed the phone but he encouraged himself to open the mail box of Nino's phone. He found a bunch of messages and attached pictures of Nino making out and being fucked by someone he didn't know. Ohno's heart shattered. Nino’s cheating on me? Who the hell is this man? Is he the 'MASTER'? He felt like he saw that man’s face somewhere then he opened a magazine and found out who that man was. It's Matsuyama Kenichi... Nino's producer...

Is this what you do behind my back, Kazu…? You cheat on me…?

That was what he thought before he knew about the truth. Nino never cheated on him, or at least Nino had no intention of doing it. That bastard deceived him to sign an abnormal contract where Nino had to do whatever he wanted, including sleeping with him. Ohno’s heart broke into pieces when he knew that his boyfriend sold himself just to hold an exhibition for him. But he couldn’t stop it, not because he was ignorant and acted blind just to get what he wanted but because Nino didn’t trust him. He was feeling really disappointed at him. Nino never told him that he was hurt. He didn’t tell Ohno that someone was using him. He didn’t know what Nino thought of him. A useless man? So Nino thought that it was better to demean himself than talk to Ohno about their problem?

“Here you are,” someone gave Ohno a can of hot coffee.

“Thanks Maru,” Ohno took the coffee and opened it.

“I wonder why you still work as a janitor even though you’re a painter and your boyfriend’s a top singer now,” Maruyama said after sipping his own coffee.

“What I do now has nothing to do with Kazu. It’s my own decision,” he drank his coffee slowly.

“You should have a good life. If I were you, I wouldn’t be a janitor.”

“I don’t deserve that. That should be Kazu’s and not mine. He’s should have a good life but not me.”

“How’s your day, Ohno-san?” Jun asked when he met Ohno inside the elevator of their apartment building.

“Not bad,” Ohno answered as he leaned at the wall. “How about you?”

“It’s not bad as well,” Jun smiled though Ohno ignored it. “Today my client gave me this CD.”

Jun showed a CD with Nino as the cover. Ohno refrained himself from destroying the CD. “It’s Ninomiya-san’s new single entitled Himitsu. It sounds really cheerful. I’ve already heard it in my car just now. Have you heard it too? Maybe it’s written for you.”

“Nope, I haven’t,” Ohno said flatly but his eyes stared deeply at the CD cover. Nino smiled widely as if he didn’t have any problem. I miss his smile.

‘If only I could protect his smile, I wouldn’t miss this badly, right… it’s my fault after all’ Ohno thought and took a deep breath before looking away, trying to ignore the CD. Trying to ignore all the things that hurt him and Nino…
