I wonder if you could tell me more about how the law works where you are from. My country is - was - under military dictatorship. I'm curious as to how other systems of government function.

Well, laws come down from the King 'n his advisors 'n such, which include my Lord Provost. And my Lord Provost tells the kennel commanders, who tell the Dogs, that's those'a us that's walkin' the streets, and we enforce'em. Best we can acourse.

I think it'll be hard to do, because people come and go so much from here. But I think it's worth the work.

The problem is that it gives too much power to too few people.

But that's sorta unavoidable. Someone's gotta be in charge somewhere.

T'deal with problems. Like the stuff 'as been happening. Can't do much 'bout the Animus acourse, but there's been stuff that ain't 'cause of them.

'cides. People need rules 'n such.

[Funnily enough, Jean Louis doesn't look the least bit tired. Even though he hasn't slept at all for two days.]

Your support is appreciated, Mademoiselle.

Many of them have very unfortunate experiences with governance. This reaction is only natural.

Just 'cause one govenrment's bad don't mean they all are. Y'don't throw out the whole bushel just 'cause one apple be rotted.

The greater the incentive that we display, the greater the support we will be able to gather, one must hope.

You'd think getting some form'a order and safety 'round here'd be incentive enough.

Many fear answering to anyone but themselves, it seems. Who is to say what is expected of them, in that case, after all.

There's always those that has power that think they don't need no one else. Till they come 'cross those with more power doin' somethin' they don't like, 'n then they're the first chatterin' to the Dogs.
