Unfortunately people do have a tendacy to get caught up in their own lives, their own immediate issues. I know from experience that it's really easy to get in a "if I were to fade way, who might notice and how long would it take?" mood. However, I've also found from experience that it rarely does much in the long run. Communication is an effort, and one that very easily slides down by the wayside when both or even one side stops trying. In our "work til you drop" society, it seems even easier to just assume that everyone is just going about their daily pattern, just like you, without a greater thought, and that's often not the case. We ask "How are you?" in passing everyday, expecting, and perhaps wanting, to hear nothing else other than "fine", even if that is not the truth. I'm more than guilty of this on numerous occasions. Just because you have to sometimes ask in order to have people come to your side doesn't mean they don't care about you - simply that people are by and by too busy naval-gazing, even without intending to, until
