I hope, two years from now, to be learning drumset (I just bought a saxophone, and oboe is next on the list; I already know snare but set is a whole different world). If, after that time, either of these groups is touring America and needs a drummer to fill in, let me know.
Or, for that matter, if you feel a sax (or clarinet, flute, trumpet, or tuba) would enhance the group.
And by the way, when there's a music ed major on your friends page, starting rock bands (even indie or acoustic) is still cool by comparison.
We don't even have a drummer yet (I am really hoping that there is going to be one in next year's freshers). Drummers are annoyingly thin on the ground in Cambridge.
Next year, me and my friends Mike (on keyboard) and Pete (on guitar) are living in a set of 3 rooms. With one other person. That we don't know.
I really, really feel sorry for that person. I hope he doesn't like doing stuff like, you know, sleeping.
I've met enough of them to know they exist, but I could never understand college students who liked sleeping at night (during class the day, that's another matter). Time at college is short (mine is essentially over, other then 8 weeks of summer classes). Make the best of it.
